SJFE, I think a cool "sport" setup for the Mean Machine would be to install two SV combos with a dual drive on one set of 14 cell NiMH batteries. It should run in the mid to upper forties. 50's on lipo's?

It should be very reliable on those 6 pole motors.

Oh yeah man . I have wanted to do a twin cat from day one..Its still on the list. I would go the same rout with The sv motor and a couple hexes for some more esc head room. That would cut the power system cost over all by about 90 bucks too. I am thinking two 11.1v s3 1p packs would do the job but those motors would prolly be happier on s4 14.8... I was going to attempt it in a smaller hull though.

Be sure and get a big enough rudder. They are hard to turn on a wide cat.

That big old dual pick up SpeedMaster unit will do the trick. An alternitive would be a set of SV rudders with extenede brackets. I think the MM hull is one of the best for a dual setup just because of the with and all that room inside.

            question

what prop would you run in a mm that has a 7xl powered by2- 25c 5000 mh px4s
flowing thru a hydra 240. I am looking for top speed only. I am running the wrong prop right now ( x645 ) and am having a heat issue after extended runs. still able to get over 50 with the gps. I just want some advice from those in the know
            Thanks
            Tim

I would drop down to a X640 and check your temps (1300 watts). Possibly a X642 (1600watts)??? You are running close to 2000 watts on an 800 watt motor. I hope you did not damage the magnets from heat?

motor only reached 140 and the esc 135 batts barely warm at 102. all I am doing right now is making speed passes and trying to get the strutplacement and cg set. only running it around 1-1.5 mins then bringing in and checking speed and temps
