FS: 1/10th scale buggy - need help

BakedMopar sent me an SC10 that should be here today. I hear nothing but good things about it. He also has the slash (as does lonewolf) Since bakedmopar has had both at the same time, he can tell you a lot in comparison

as for the slash, I can't say enough good things. It is super tough and a great basher. I would love to be able to race but alas, live in a place where racing is a days drive away...

I have two boys, so two of something is needed. I have a lot of grass in my yard. Am I better off with a MT? Also I want something that's simple so they can start to tinker and fix them, themselves. Am I correct in thinking that I should be looking for a 2 wheel drive truck for simplicity?

Monster trucks are definately the most versatile. HPI makes the tougheset rtr's on the market. The traxxas E-MAXX is also awesome. Fully waterproof and brushless ready transmission and diffs.

2WD to start? Yes. You can't go wrong with either the slash or SC10. I just think (based on the video) the SC10 runs and lands a jump better.
The e-maxx was my 1st and only truck till now. It was great, but as a 1st time tinkerer, I don't know.

Why not get one of each, the boys will let you know which is better.

The slash is also probably cheaper to upgrade and maintain. it is a little lighter so easier on batteries and might mean breaking less. it is also fully water proof and brushless ready.

Villenom, and potent at that. It is barely a slash anymore. about the only thing stock is the battery holder. I will post some pics later in my albums

I would stay with the Slash being they much cheaper than a MT and your LHS will have parts all day for them..

Steve, I would recommend you to get the Slash for your boys. It's tough and won't break easily as the other SCT's.

Looks like a couple of Slash Trucks will be under the tree this Christmas. I've been looking a bit and can't believe the upgrade parts available for these things.

Steven I have both a slash and a sc10 right now. I am going to race tonight. I would recommend the slash as a basher for sure. Also if you are worried about grass just buy a set of mt tire and rims for it. Either the 2.2 or 30 series size and a mt body. That is what I did with mine at first, and What I will do with my 4x4 slash I have on order. When you are ready to move them up to brushless I recommend the vxl motor (or any other 3500ish kv motor) with castle esc. Programming capabilities are endless. I have a MMPro in my sc10 and have another on order for the 4x4 slash. Here is a pic of the slash with mt wheels and a body from my ERBE.

Go RPM or STRC, avoid integy (unless you like to replace parts more than once!) Integy bend and deform - not good!
