As Scott mentioned Archies is right there in Pinellas but I've run there before and don't think it will suit what you are wanting. There is no retrieve boat on premise unless you bring your own and it's really a small pond as well. There were 2 markers on it when we ran there a couple of times right after I joined the club and think it's only like a 1/10 mile course.Originally posted by megalops View Postis there a lake up here in pinellas where you can go and run your boat, open to the public and has a retreival boat handy?? Free or Pay no matter. Oh yeah with some bouys set up too?? I need a bigger pond now for this boat. i can run behind my house but Its not quite big enough to setup even a small course. If i could find some place Id spend some time there working on driving skills...
Riverview has some nice facilities complete with a full time retrieve boat but in the past has not been really electric friendly either. Bbill from rcracingevents has been trying to get that remedied and they might be more receptive now. When I tried to join there a year or so ago the club president at the time wouldn't take my money unless I wanted to start running gas boats instead.

Oh well - I have a perfect pond in mind right near my house it is huge round and clean. It has some posted signs on the park side - no swimming and no launching of water craft. Now here is where the gray area begins. "Water Craft" I think is to keep knuckle heads from backing up and putting in their "Wave runners" and water skiing around the lake. The worst that could happen is PCSO tells me to leave or something.
I am thinking that my next project is gonna be some sorta pseudo reliable rescue rig.."If you can't win - Wreck someone who can!"

Yeah I put stainless screws into the pvc and hook small bungies to them. One over the front, one under the front, one across the transom and one over the rear deck

megalops where in pinellas county are you located. There is one that I have used several times and you won't need a retrieve boat there. I have always been able to retrieve my boats there with a fishing pole. The lake is the perfect size for testing.

Hey Obrien - I am up here at the backend of tampa bay in Safety Harbor. In case you dont know where SH is - up in the mcmullen booth and enterprise road. Where is the pond you use? I am always open to suggestions for sure.Originally posted by obrien View Postmegalops where in pinellas county are you located. You see I have 2 ponds behind my house. I have what i call the test pond its oval around 140 - 160 ft. long by about 50 ft wide. its great to do "first test" type runs. The second pond is the bigger pond its shaped like a horseshoe - in the larger end of it you can actually have some fun and run a very small oval with smaller boat say < 30 in but again you need a rescue rig or a small john boat to retreive your boat if it gets hung up on the banks of the penisula in the center. Oh yeah there is the swim option but no thanks..
What I am looking to do is be able to run some laps at high speed to simulate a real race oval. So the pond would large enough to allow at least 1/10 or 1/8 mile course. So 170 to 220 foot oval with 30 to 35 foot corners. Then you still need a wide area around this oval to allow for mistakes etc.
bottom line - need to get a rescue rig running ..."If you can't win - Wreck someone who can!"

received my Castle Hydra ICE2 HV-200 back from Castle. I need to sell it. I'm looking for $300 since there none available anywhere in the USA. The Castle retail now is $399. This ESC was NEVER USED...didn't even have connectors soldered to it. It is BRAND NEW AND UPDATED BY CASTLE. I would entertain REASONABLE offers from Club members only. If nobody is interested, I'll put it in the Swap Shop.Last edited by sailr; 01-11-2012, 10:39 AM.Mini Cat Racing USA
