Had a really good time today as some of the club members met at my house to do some bashing on my pond. Its not the right shape for the approved course but we got a nice tri oval going. I shoulda taken some pics of it before we disassembled it. Started out with a quick round of P mono then a couple rounds of LSO, LSH, STD and Bill got some testing on on his new twin DF. We even battled out some laps,DF vs the HPR.

Skullcracken (Keith), thanks for coming. It was a pleasure meeting you and hope to see you at Ackerman this Sunday. Dave (HRC) brought some goodies and is going to work on a project for Bill and I.

We grilled up some Burgers and had a great day. After Dave, Keith, Chris and Bill left, Rich stayed a bit and I ran my Q set up DF cat with the offest rudder. It still had a lot of issues but it seems better than it was... I think Then I ran down my last set of 4S packs using the HPR again. OH, and almost forgot. My STD is getting a major port side overhaul. I was chasing Rich down and got bouncing side to side in his wake. Ended up rolling and darting off to the left which stuck it port drive first into a bank... or right off it in about 2 inches of water. Theres no room to mount stingers so its just a turned down piece of aluminum with the stuffing tube run into it, so theres no bolts to hold anything. When it stuffed it broke the sponson transom and blew the drive all outtawhack and bent the stuffing tube. Im not sure if it will be done by Sunday or not. Damn thing was runnin good to. I finally got it set up correctly and found some nice props for it.

Hey guys. After more tinkering with my single drive DF cat today, I dont see it ever being a competitive Q boat against Bill and Hughs hulls. I had purchased a yellow DF cat as well to build as a twin. I think Im going to strip out the single drive and twin that one. So Im going to list the yellow DF cat for sale in the next few days and thought Id offer it here first.

EDIT change of plans. Got asked if Id sell my Q boat DF today. Keeping the undrilled hull now for the twin project.

Oh and Jim, I may be interested in your outboard minus motor if youre willing to separate it from the hull... and if thats not one of the items your going to hang on to.

Worked on my new hydro a bit last night. Pulled the strut and enlongated the adjustment slot a little then added some silicon rtv and heat shrink to the joint before putting it back together. (hopefully that will cut down on the water intrusion).
The aviation forecaster still doesn't show Sunday but early Sat morning doesn't look too bad. Hopefully with the front coming through mid week we'll have some decent wind conditions and a decent turnout for Sunday. With Jim deciding to give up the boating end of the hobby we need to figure out who we want to take his place.
We (the club) need to get ready to buy a new battery for the recovery boat as well. It only made about 2 trips out last time before it dropped power.

It's aready built Ron. It's the little H&M that I picked up in the swap shop as a replacement for my UL-1.
Finally got to run it at Scott's last Sunday and it was doing pretty good until the reciever got wet and made it shut down. I think the prop might have been too deep in the water as it didn't sound like it was turning the rpm's it should. Had to enlongate the slot in the strut to get it up a little more and hoping the silicon and heat shrink will take care of the water intrusion up the stuffing tube. Got the rx ballooned now as well.

That's what I was wanting to see. It's looking like we might actually have some decent weather this Sunday. Only about 5 out of the north in the morning and going up to 9 by 2:00.
Already prepped my Q cat and tunnel last night.

I started charging the club's battery last night. Let it run overnight and it was still taking a 4 amp charge this morning when I shut it off before heading to work. Plugged it back in and will let it run overnight again tonight unless it taper off to the trickle before bedtime. If it's still pulling 4 amps in the morning I think we need to buy another battery. I'm pretty sure this one has been in use for the warranty to be expired and mine that we're using now is a few years old too. Think I bought it in Nov of 08.

I think it may be beneficial as well to take a few minutes say at 10 o'clock and discuss the direction of the club if jim is going to phase out because of health reasons. Its an unfortunate situation and upsetting that Jims in the position he's in, but we need to do what we need to do. There's no need for people to be bothering jim for things. Perhaps we can talk about it all and take notes, then contact jim Sunday afternoon to figure out what we are doing.
