I recently purchased two 47A power supplies that I wired in series to get 24V to drive my new Hyperion 720 duo charger.

These are GREAT power supplies. Cost? $90 shipped for both! Only $50 for one. There is also a great thread on RCGroups about hooking them up.

They have smaller supplies also. They are takeouts from big computer servers.

I posted this elsewhere on OSE. This is scarey as hell guys!!

That's it! I'm done! No more Turnigy batteries! About three weeks ago I had a small 1800mah 3S pack blow up on my charging bench. No reason for it. BRAND NEW pack. Charging at 1C. I managed to knock it on the floor. All it did was scorch my charger and put smoke crap everywhere.

TWO DAYS AGO I opened my Lipo cabinet in my warehouse/shop to get some packs out. I noticed a strange sticky film on the packs...THEN I SAW IT.... a 4S 5000 40C Turnigy pack, again, brand new and hadn't even been charged, had blown up inside the cabinet which holds about 50 lipo packs! It had to have happened when nobody was there. It scorched some other packs close to it, melting heat shrink and a balance plug on one. I can't imagine why the wooden cabinet and my entire 2000 sq. foot building housing our inventory, workshop, lots of boats and airplanes....to the ground! The warehouse is air conditioned and packs are always reduced to storage charge before putting in the cabinet.

NO MORE Turnigy batteries for me! You guys do what you want but two fires in three weeks from the same manufacturer's brand new packs has me convinced.

I will spend more and only buy quality Hyperion packs only from here on out!

BTW, I give a great discount on the hyperions if you didn't know that. Cheaper than ANYBODY! I sell quite a few to the guys on OSE. You may THINK you're getting a good deal from RC LIPOS but he has the packs on his site at MORE than the legitimate retail and then gives you a discount. Whoopee!

Looks like the demons must have left me. I don't have anything broken or burned to fix today.

They are still haunting the lake though. Jim lost 2 esc's onne in his little HK tunnel (we knew that was gonna happen) The surprise was the Castle HV that went off in his 1/8 hydro. Sounded a lot like my DF33 did a while back when the Turnigy 180 grenaded before it made it to the water.
Chris lost the complete driveline in his Pursuit. Ron lost the hatch for his tunnel (it floated for about 15 seconds then went down in water too deep to retrieve it from)

Speaking of "retrieve".... better bring along that trolling motor you have next week Brian. The club's "new warranty replacement" has crapped out again. Still runs in reverse but forward is more or less gone. I'm beginning to think we need to be on the lookout for another good used high thrust like the one you have. Or a couple horsepower gasser one.

Yeah, rub it in Bill. The Demons saw me coming today for sure! I'm probably scrapping 1/8 scale at the NATS....dammit! I just can't afford $800 for a new motor and ESC right now!

Everybody keep your eyes and ears open for a good used little outboard motor for the retrieve boat. We may have to each chip in a bit to buy one. I'm tired of the 75 mile round trips to the trolling motor dealer and the 2-4 week wait. I will NEVER EVER EVER buy anything made by Minnkota again. JUNK JUNK JUNK.

Start thinking DUES renewal. All memberships run out at the end of June! We need the $$$!
