Hey guys, my name is Chris and I just moved to the Clearwater area. Was looking for a cool group to run my boats with or just an area to run them in general. It's cool that you started a FE group. Are you guys pretty serious or more of a bashing type club? I stopped by a group last place I lived and they were all gas guys and all gave me dirty looks when I ran my stock Proboat around. I'm just lookin for a place to run, maybe some company to run with.

We do both. The 2nd sunday of the month is for testing, while the 4th sunday of the month we get together to actually race, or attempt to anyway.

Hi Chris, you are welcome to join us. We are a membership club and the lake requires NAMBA membership for the insurance. You can come as a guest a couple of times before joining. We have serious racers and those that just like to run for fun.

Jim pretty much covered it. We're a social group and our normal run days are the 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month. 2nd is pretty much a test n tune run whatcha bring and the 4th "trying" to do heat races.

How much does NAMBA cost? I'm not really into racing, but it would be fun to stop by on a Sunday anyway. How is the location?

I want to say NAMBA is $45. Seems like that's what it was anyways. (I'm too lazy to look) If you google it you can find their website though.

Ackerman is a pretty decemt small lake. We have a 1/6 and 1/8 mile layout there and only use a small portion of it for them. Windy days there are rough and calm days are hot in the summer. (it's florida) You can find lots of video from there on my youtube page that will give you an idea of what it looks like and what we run.
                              (link in my sig line)

There's actually a smaller pond not all that far from Clearwater. Archie's Hobby shop in Pinellas Park has a place in an industrial park there. It's probably a 1/10 mile course. (tight for the bigger stuff but jave run my 55 mph Genesis in it too. You could call Archies and get more details on it as well for just a place to run.

Do feel free to drop in on us regardless though. I75, exit 210 to Fruitville Road east. Hang a right at the 1st light where you can turn right and follow it about a mile to East Sawgrass road. The lakes on the right and we pit on the south shore. we usually start around 9 and are out of there by 1 or so.

Thanks for the link and the info. Some of your boats are insane! Way bigger than what I'm running, lol. Maybe the 2nd Sunday of April I can stop by.
