    26" mini rivercat hauling!

    Went to a new spot today to do some testing. I ran my mini rivercat and my new addition to my fleet, in impulse 31. I was impressed by both of them. I did have to go get the mini rivercat once because it was running nose high and flipped. Moved the batteries up one notch and fixed that problem. The impulse, it's stock except for prop and turn fins and trim tabs. I had an x642 on both. The strut was up high but pretty level on the mini. It was about a 1/4 off the table when the boat was flat on it. Think I need the prop in the water a little more. Find out tomorrow. Enjoy these two vid's and I'll post another one of the recovery in action.

              I gps the impulse 31 today. I was hoping for about 48 - 50mph. It got almost 45. Then the flex shaft seized. My fault. I needed a bushing so I made one and evidently the clearance was too tight so right after the prop change, it locked up. Should be fixed this go round. Just for kicks I have about half a dozen props I'm going to try out. O, btw, I had to change motors. The 1800kv one sound really rough and the wires are all melted (from the shaft seizing) so I put a 1500kv motor in it. It's the same exact proboat motor just a lower kv. I'll be testing a couple props on the mini rivercat tomorrow too. Here's what the impulse gps (the mini rivercat looks waaay faster)

                      The boats are Lookin' good Travis, That's a awsome lake you found there. From the looks of it I'd go around to the side that the camera is pointed and run long ways. I don't know if it's a "optical delusion" but it looks like the lake is longer that way.

                          It is longer that way. We are going to head there in a little bit and I'll check it out. There is a nice opening where we are standing, from what I can tell there not an opening down that side. We shall see

                                  Yes sir and I love that esc. I'm running a 1512 1800kv on 6s. The esc never gets hot. I made the cooling plate for it. My motor temps got over 120 yesterday because no water was coming out the cooling exit. I think it was plugged with mud. The esc still never got hot lol. It's a bad ass little esc and completely water proof. I have no doubt this thing is over 60mph. It did 53mph today with a stock 40mm proboat prop. That prop yields 38mph in my impulse. The x642 gives me 44.8mph in my impulse. I'm pretty positive that little mini beast of a motor in the mini rivercat can pull the prop better than the impulse motor can. I lost my gps when I ran the x642 today so I won't know until I get another one

                                      Awesome, would be great to see a pic of the cooling plate. Is it just a flat plate sitting on top of the fins? Very nice work on the Rivercat, interested to see how it goes when you get it dialed!

                                          I had a 3/8" (I think) thick piece of solid aluminum. I milled it out to hold a bunch of water. Then made a cf top for it and put fittings on it. Here's some pics

                                                  Wow thats awesome! nice work. I may have to give mine a go.. Almost looks like you made an extra cooling plate :).. Do you use it in forward only and just not worry about brake? I'm sure it doesn't really matter and its the only real difference from the boat software.

                                                      I don't use the brake, there's none lol. It does have reverse. I guess I've never slammed it in reverse cuz I'm used to not doing that? I dunno. Yes I made a extra one and sold it. I can make more. In my mini, it was a tad too tall so I had to cut the fins down. This is a dedicated esc that I won't use in a car anymore so I'm ok with cutting the fins. I know a guy with a 32" rivercat with this esc and a 1515 2200kv running 6s and no water cooling on the motor or esc and he said it just gets warm. I personally wouldn't do thus but if it does overheat, it's protected anyway. The Hobbywing 150a car esc might be a good alternative to this as its higher amp and waterproof too.

                                                          Oh cool - well I'd take one to try out if you do make some more. Well the brake wouldn't do anything but you can't disable it I don't think?

                                                          Might be the way to go with Castle getting out of hydra's.. I also kind of want to get a Mamba XL to water cool and run..
