Going direct for 2P connectors is the way to go IMO because adapters add allot of extra resistance.

This is what I do to all my SF120, 200, and 240A esc's...

I clean off the conformal and solder an extra set of same guage wires to oposite board. After all they leave you the solder pads anyway!!

I think you are doing fine. Try maybe a 4092 2200kv or close to it and solder the motor directly to the esc using copper tubing with a slicedown one side to create a crimp and solder.

Gooing to lower KV you will need to turn a larger prop and you may then start to see torque roll or the hull wanting to lift itself out of the water at the end of the straight.

If you hit 51 on 4s w/ a m445 that bests my setup w/ the same prop. I really want to buy a different motor. Its gonna have to be 4s though, I can't splurge on a new motor and new packs right now. I could go 1700-1800kv range and prop up on 4s then buy some 5s packs down the road. Could be an option. I do however get a kick out of pushing the 4s range.

Thanks Ray, and very nice on the soldering work on your swordy's. I think I may drill some holes on the rear endbell to allow some of the heat to exit. Would be cheaper then buying a new motor and see if that helps w/ heating. If it does I'll do the same on my other Leo's. I ran a x447 (2-bladed and bar-cut) on this hull before and the boat didn't mind it. So i could run that matched w/ a lower kv, but I think I'll try the holes first.

You could drill out the front plate too, it would be more efficient than just doing the back.

I drill the rear plate on the Leopards that dont have the slotted plates, the problem with drilling the plate at the shaft end is depending on type of mount used the mount blocks of the holes unless you have a mount that you can put holes or slots in. The 4092 motor i have has slots both ends but due to the mount i have in the boat the slots are blocked of by the mount plate.

D. Have you used any three blade props on the pursuit? I've got a 447-3 which I've been told would work well but have no exp with 3 blades.

Yea the prop that was used in the video started its life as a x447/3. I never ran an un-modded x447/3 on it. I ran a x447 bar-cut on it, ran ok. My motor isn't liking the props though. I'm going to have to vent it.

Thanks, glad its a benchmark for you. I have no clue when I'll get around to modding the motor for better cooling. Been pre-occupied w/ planes & helis lol...

few guys in club and my self have pursuits , we are always testing props and motors for 4s ,them TP power 4083 are good !

but run way to hot , the 2000kv seems to handle the 447=3 and stay cool ,
