We have a new clubbie that has got one of these. Goes quite well, actually surprised me with just the standard motor has a good turn of speed. Porpoises a lot even with the battery pushed forward. A pair of trim tabs have settled that down pretty well though. All he has to do now is learn how to drive it at speed, just a confidence thing.NZMPBA 2013, 2016 Open Electric Champion. took a little adjustment with the trim tabs to stop the porpoising and I secure the battery as far foward as I can and she handles very well, still can't believe the temps on esc and motor are only around 37degrees c after a 4 minute run using a SSS 40/74 motor, 42x55 prop. Might have to try a bigger prop!

Razzle.
That boat with that motor Loves a 440/3 blade prop, & an M445. The SSS motor will still be cool. But too big of a prop will induce a bit of torque roll because it is such a narrow boat.
I think that Mark, at our club, ended up putting a longer rudder on it which helped with the handling enormously.See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

785boats...Thanks for the info..I've got a longer rudder on it but one thing I noticed when I first got the boat was the tube out the back and the strut was off centre to the keel to the right which I thought was odd maybe a manufacture fault so I just elongated the holes for the strut and recentred it to the keel, or now I'm thinking it was meant to be like that to counteract torque roll...'?

Yep. That's how they come. Off centre to counteract torque roll & prop walk /steer. But I've read somewhere that the guys that came up with that idea all those years ago have gone back to putting the drivelines in the centre again. So it's all good.See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

The canopy locks are the screw type the thumb screws I got are these aluminum M4 threaded screw set I got from promise hobby on ebay and they screw into M4-Large-Flange-Nutserts-304-A2-Stainless-Steel-Rivet-Nut I also got these on ebay or you can get them at your local hardware store. The seal is a stick on neoprene seal I got from a local rubber retailer( clark rubber) it gives a watertight seal so no need for tape.

Trevor....the brackets I made them out of scrap aluminium drilled a hole through them and epoxied the rivet nuts in the hole then epoxied the brackets underneath. I also used the rivets nuts on the hatch trimmed down where the thumb screws go through for added strength and clean looks also don't forget to use a o-ring or rubber seal on thumb screws so no water gets in...hope this helps!
