Insane FE 30 Ready to Race

A friend of mine gave me this never built white FE30 and some other parts because he just did not have time for the hobby. Since, my current FE30 that I race in P-Limited Sport Hydro is getting a little long in the tooth(even though it races great still) I figured I would build out a new one to race. As they say, your boat will never looks better than the day you finish building it. I took some pictures to record the moment. The boat is loosely modelled after a hydro I saw a picture of that I don't think they ever really raced, but were thinking about it.

Here is a link with a couple of pictures in the center that I used as my example. Weaving in the red and blue colors was beyond my very limited painting skills.

Thanks guys, yep, this is as good as it will look since soon it will be racing and banging up against other racers. It is a fine line on how much time you want to invest in the paint job.

I am trying something new on this boat. I bought some "special" clear tape(monojeff) that you put down around the area where you will be taping. This clear tape is supposed to NEVER come up and thus it should protect the paint job when you rip off the hockey tape. We will see how it works. I will say that the tape applies really nicely and except for the overlap over the corners where the black paint is(which with some effort I could have made better), the tape is almost completely invisible because it is super thin. Interesting stuff, and I thought this would be a good boat to try it on. I have been using an automotive clear (House of Kolor) and so far it seems to be a really good product to spray down. Very messy stuff to work with though and once I use it up I am going to try a water based clear.

For years I've been using automotive clear chip protector, which sounds like the same stuff?

that fe 30 looks great....I used to race mine flat out all the way around the course and never rolled it....great boat
