just got a 1/8 miss elam brushless.....help

im a old nitro buggy/truck guy so im new to the boating game and have never had a brushless motor in anything.
my question is the 3 wires coming off the motor that go to the esc do they go in a particular
order?
they are the same color on my motor but are 3 different colors on my esc.
the boat was bought used with no paperwork.

Welcome to OSE
The three wires plug in any order. If the motor spins the wrong way around, swap any two wires to turn the other direction.
Are you sure it's 1/8? not 1/12? 1/8's were never brushless unless converted. 1/8 is 40+ inches long
