Your MG that started off as a hull

I've been watching R42 vids,mmm,they sure seem to handle speeds and corner.They handle like I think an overpowered cat should.Hey Mac,what does that bare hull weigh?

I dont have a weighing scale here at home at the moment, however AC boats are known to be just a hair heavier compared to most rc gas hull makers - that is because Andy makes bullet proof hulls. In the world of gas cat hulls, heavier is not actually a bad thing. In fact, Andy suggested that I should add removable weights inside the hull. You cant win a race if you cant finish, right?
But I dont think this needs to concern you since Im sure Andy can layup a thinner R-42 for you for FE use. Consider yourself lucky as he is not only your friend but lives in your neck of the woods as well!

I do agree with Jason re scale looking long cat hulls - they're fantastic at straight speed but you have to let go of the hammer when turning. Even before I bought the R-42, I already told myself that I wont go over 44" for a Cat.
Great running gas cat hulls arent exactly scale looking - the legendary RC Boatworks Stryker F-41 cat was developed since the late '70s and you still see a lot of guys use and race those hulls till now.
AC's R-42 belongs to the modern cat designs that may have a bit of "science" in its design compared to the outdated F-41, so performance maybe better as well.

I get you with the desire of running something that looks scale - I want that too .............. however you really have to find out what considerations you really wanted in a cat hull.

Yup,when I was watching some of the vids(one in particular),it looked like my MG out there.And that is a good fun thing..I should go to see Andy and show him what kind of power a 1717 has and see what we can do for two of them.
I was just after a ballpark weight Mac to get an idea.My CF cat runs 10lbs RTR.I really don't want to spend the money to make straight line runs fun.Names like Lehner and Schulz come to mind and pocket book. Fightercat has a 41" hull that seems to handle well.I am discussing those options with Keith Bradley.

R-42 hull is at 8-9lbs with a half canopy. I guess with electric use you have to use a full canopy. I think most videos of the R-42 you see in youtube are using half canopy.

I would not count out the F41!!! I've had one of those cats and it was better handling than my MG!!!! And my geico handles like it's on rails!!! The AC boats are great boats also... Any of the gas cats that I recommended in the previous texts will handle really well. Shawn, are you wanting a smooth or rough water cat??? Or a little of both?

I'm pretty sure up here I'll be the only one on the water with a large cat.It won't be for racing but with any luck it will turn up alot of it's own water.I was just looking at the Falcon cat.The main thing is that I'm stuck on stingers and the square rear of the gas cats.I found some cool hardware in Germany though it is too large so far.I got lots of time yet.

That handles pretty good,honestly alot better than I have seen an HPR.Tiqueman said his HPR doesn't like corners above 50mph.

Am using one but in the gas form with a zenoah 28.5. performance is good.
although its the older version. Frank came out with am improved one.

Hey Mac, If my memory serves me right, Master Oca repeatedly told us about Franks Falcon cat and you also told me about it even before you bought your R-42!
