Another Geico with hull hop! HELP!!!

some general info about my setup. im running a 42x55 grim racer prop sharpened and balanced, turnigy 5000mah 40c 2s.

ive tried every adjustment i can think of and cant seem to get this thing to mellow out. ive read all the threads on it and tried everything but the offset rudder(though i dont beleive that is the fix for it). i read that the cob should be between 8-9 inches from the transom but for me the farther i put the batts forward, the smoother it gets

any help would be greatly appreciated

im in the same boat with you,the further forward i put the batteries the smoother it gets,but will not go away totally.Ive tried all the adjustmens and nothing,so i ordered the offset kit.Hopefully that will work.If you get it figured out,let me know

I keep hearing speed is the key along with battery placement... I haven't run mine stock but ill be sure to let you know how mine fairs with all the upgrades... a lot of people have gone 5s and its gone away others have done the offset prop and that's worked for them...

M445 prop really helps and the offset rudder helps, I have both and zero bounce with turnagy 5000 mah 40 c 2s1p flush with the back of bat. trays and zero bounce runs great!! Good luck.

Miss G on a pair of 2 cells is nice, but is not going get you into the record books.
The boat is happy running those batteries, but to see what they really can do, takes more juice!

Don't want you to hurt your boat, but when you have learned how to drive it, and want a bigger rush, try a pair of 3 cells or 6s in the lingo. As I have suggested before, a higher rated ESC is a good idea if you want to get serious about bringing things up a notch.

what is a good esc,and where are they available at?and if i change the esc,and run a pair of 3s....will the motor hold it?

will the stock motor hold 6s?

No problem on 6S with the stock motor. Around 33,000 rpm unloaded. The stock esc will blow, the Turnigy or Seaking 180 is the ticket!

Yes, battery forward of 9" @ center is key. Your strut seems to be about right. Looks to be level with the ride pads.

As far as ESCs go, the Turnigy 120 or 180 are the ticket. I run the 180 with 3 extra capacitors added.

In my case installing offset rudder got rid of the wha wha...
Running stock motor, 120Amp esc on 4S and M445 prop.
I will test UL-1 motor on 4S next.
Will post video after sunday.

i just got done installing my offset kit,will go run it tomorrow and see if that fixed the problem

Jb hit it on the head!!! 9in from transom along with offset rudder and my maiden voyage was wah wah free!!! Not sure which one did it or maybe it was both for me but I never ran it stock only set it up to what other more experienced people recomended and I was supper happy. A lot of people say speed is also key but even at lower speed it would just glide on the water.... thanks jb I think the batteries are in the perfect spot!!!!

are you saying 9" at the center of the battery from the back of boat?

No back of battery 9inch from the back of the boat almost all the way forward on the tray so that the front of the battery is at the end of the front of the tray
