There is a ton of info on the SV in this forum and others. These post have been a life saver to me when I bought my SV. Althoughthe first one ended up going back to the manufacturer - typical problems as desribed in the threads and more - leaks (after stripping everthing, would not trim, ate 2 7.4 3800 packs, boat would run for 30 sec then stop...uninstalled stuffing tube...
However, Aquacraft had me a new boat in ten days. Excellent service!! Though I'v been laid up w/ Achilles surgery, I have done many of the simple fixes/preventative maint. items in the threads and am looking forward to getting on the pond before it freezes.
Basically, there is great info on here for newbies and I just wanted to say thanks to those who have taken the time to share thier knowledge. Hopefully, as I learn, I hope to be able to add some information rather than just ask questions.

IMO the best mods for the SV are:just got an sv 27 the only mod is a prather 220 prop, the thing cant stay in the water.
* GrimRacer 42x55 prop
* Steve's adjustable trim tabs for the SV
* Left side turn fin
* 6 ounces of lead weight taped under the motor
One club member did these to his new SV and the difference was remarkable. IMO the best mod was the lead weight. You cannot get any boat to go its fastest unless the prop stays in the water all the time at the same depth and attitude. The boat may look faster when it is bouncing out of control, but successful racers know what matters.

Got the adjustable trim tabs - they make adjustments much easier; added the left turn fin - weight under the motor; now that is an interesting mod. However, I can see how that could work out well. I need to try that one, since most of my problems are keeping the boat from flipping in the windy conditions.SV-27, Challenger 31, Mini-Cat ECO, Mini-xXx,
