    new sv

just got an sv 27 the only mod is a prather 220 prop, the thing cant stay in the water. i am using 2 venom 5000 nimh 8.4 dont see the need for lipo yet the thing is super fast, any more speed would make it uncontrolable. some questions for you guys, i will be adding a port side fin and adjustable trim tabs, which are better the fuller or ose? whats a good 3 blade prop? i read alot that the octura 440 or 445 is the way to go again the motor and ec are stock. the pather 220 gets the boat right on plain and it just takes off, does this prop heat my motor up faster than a 3 prop will or vise versa? moved my batts 8inches from rear of boat seems like the cog is right around that point stock trim tabs seem hard to bend and dont want to damage hull so i have them in the stock position, i think a tad down wuold improve the bow from bouncing any tips on what i can do for more high speed stability would be appreciated a1.jpg

not sure what you mean by batteries 8 in from rear...what part of batteries?
from your photos it looks as if your running too loose because the CG is too far back. I don't use Nimh's anymore, but this boat likes the CG pretty far forward...

get the octura M440 prop. it works great. I have run my boat over 48 mph with that prop, stock esc, ammo 2300 and a set of cheaper lipos.

                8 inches

those photos were taken before i moved the batteries. the rear of my batteries is now 8inches foward from the transome, thats were i read most sv owners tell me is about the right spot for proper cog. didnt test yet, but will go from there. please correct me if im wrong very happy with the boat just wanna dial it in without recreating the wheel, site is very helpful thank you all . any other prop or cog advice will be greatly appreciated

                    positive input

If you don't have anything positive to say maybe say nothing at all. People are here for help with their boats and don't need a bunch of negitive comments.

CG = Center of Gravity, which for most is right around 8-8.25 inches. That's the center balance point of the entire boat when ready to run, not the point at which you place the batteries. Batteries will determine where the CG is, depending where you place them.

Put the batteries in and balance the boat on your fingertips until you find the point at which the boat stays level. The point where it balances on your fingers is the balance point...adjust this point to 8.25 inches by moving the battery placement...it's gonna be forward.

If you have the stock battery trays, you'll want to remove them to be able to get the batteries further forward.

There's a good thread around here about SV27 setup tips, but I couldn't find it...I think it was posted by Darin Jordan.

Are you running the Ammo motor Sewerpit?
If not, then you will get better speed with more than 40mm.
If so, then my best speed was the Ammo with a 437/3-blade - 53.7mph - too fast for anything but glass water.
