SV27 hull restoration

I am looking forward to re-painting a couple of sv27 hulls this winter. The first one has been stripped down and sanded. Anyone ever re-painted one of these hatches and if so how did you go about getting a factory type reproduction of the windshield?

Also, the port side seam on one of the hulls needs some attention because the top of the hull doesn't quite line up with the bottom along a 2 inch section.

I've laid a strip of fiberglass along the inside seams on both sides of the hull to strengthen it and am wondering what to use on the outside to smooth out the uneven seam.

Grateful for any suggestions.

i would have left the paint on it and lightly scuffed it

Thanx, Dana. Most of the windshield's paint is still in tact with the exception of the gouged area which had to be sanded and filled. I gather, by your response that the best approach to restoring it is to mask off the exisiting windshield, paint the rest of the cowl separately, then reverse the process?

Yea, unless you go through the trouble of buying and using fine line tape its a huge PIA to even mask unless you mask and cut with blade. I have done a few and once you figure it out its no big deal. Figuring out which way you are able to do it is the pain.

Post some pics of your seam repair. It should not even be noticeable after sanding if done correctly. Simple high build prime and sanding should do. On the inside it can look bad as long as it is strong
