    Need help selecting a Lipo

I just bought a Mini Rio from OSE. My plan is to use the stock ESC and run a stock motor or VR3 for a while. I want to get a couple lipos for it and am unsure of which ones to buy. I was looking at these below, but any links or suggestions would be appreciated.

    FlightPower Evo Lite 1600

I get my small lipos off ebay they work great.
      1450mah 11.1v right around $20 shipped
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

Will the stock ESC handle the 11.1v?

I agree with rcman and avanti. The stock esc shld handle a 3s, 1350mah. Just chk temps initially. Flight power is cant miss...prefer not to comment on venom.

I guess I'll give the 3s a try. My LHS has 3s 11.1v 1500mah 20C packs. I should be able to get a decent price on one and try it out. If it fries my ESC, it's only $16 for a new ESC, or I'll upgrade to brushless.

there are two ways to approach the lipo technology, if you have a large budget, go for the top brands availlable on the market, get a good charger balancer, get some good lipo saver, but if you're on a tight budget like I am, get the cheapest pack on e bay as long as they fit with your application, you still want to use an appropriate charger with balancer, you will also find very cheap lipo saver on e bay, they might not last more than 20-30 cycle, I haven't done that many cycle neither on my heli nor on my boat yet, but honestly I got some 3S 2600mAh 20C (2 in parallel) and 2S 400mAh 25C (2 in serie) for the third of the normal price in France (I know they are a bit cheaper in the U.S.), I'm pulling more than 80 amp on my mono and these pack are dead cold (less than 104°F) after a full run! IMHO good enough for fun/sport application!

Thanks for that advice. I may try those cheap ebay lipos out. I am on a budget, also. I want this boat to be an inexpensive, fun toy for when I visit the beach.

I was not sure what this was so I did some searching to find out it was a term for the low voltage cutoff
                    here is an example http://www.dimensionengineering.com/LipoShield.htm

LipoShield! That's the one I found one of these days and could not remember, I was close to it thinking about the SmartBEC from Dimensionengineering as well, CellShield seems to be even better!!!
