    Ul-1 upgrade ?

I hope to be getting a UL-1 soon and I'd like to know how to tell if the one I'm going to get is an upgraded one with the new water jacket and reinforced turn fin, is there a certin number on the box or some identifing lable or marking ect...
I don't want to pay 329.00 and then have to spend more money on a new water jacket ect...
My LHS have them in stock, one of each color so it's cheaper for me to get it from them insted of paying shipping, unless OSE has free shipping on this product.

Only ways to check the verison (that I know of):

    1) push on the turn fin area, if it bends and moves really easy with little resistance and the esc has a small cap on it then it's prob gen 1 (also had the water jacket issues)

    2) if the turn fin area feels sold and has a small cap on the esc it's prob gen 2

    3) if the turn fin area feels sold and has a MASSIVE cap on the esc it's prob gen 3

*either way I would change the jacket. JMO

LHS did not have grim props so I got a OCT3BL-X440-3 what do you think about this prop?

Yea that's a good overall prop. You shouldn't have any trouble with that prop. I tried that on my ul1, but found the fastest prop was the L40x57/3. All in all that x440/3 is a prop everyone should have in their box. They are very useful. The grim 40x52/3 and x440/3 are very similar.

Thank you, i've been looking at all or most of the UL-1 threads here and just trying to get educated on this boat as it is the second of what well be or hope to be a versatile fleet.
so any way whats wrong with the color orange? most like white for painting and red or yellow
I think the orange is Hot Looking, so what if orange does'ent rhyme with anything.

just another ?. is detounging this prop a good, bad, or indifferent idea

I had a white Hull because I painted it. Only color that matters, is the one you like! Yea detounged props are good. The octura m series props are factory detounged. They have a little more top end with a little less heat then their x series cousins. I like them. The m445 is a wicked prop, it might be a little too big for a ul motor though. I never ran anything bigger then a 42mm prop on my ul1.

is 4s the max this esc can take or could I go 5s if theirs room.
              thanks again for your input.
