P-Limited Mono Prop recommendations

Hey folks, After getting out of the FE game five years ago, I decided to build a P-limited Cyberstorm with a 3630 1500 KV motor. We don't run P-Limited Mono in D12 so I need some oval heat racing prop recommendations. Of course I want something fast, but I'm also looking for reliability (don't want to push the equipment too hard) I'm running a 150 amp controller. Roughly how many mAh can I expect to burn in a 1 mile heat? Thanks!

1915-17-45 ABC on the 1500kV should be fast and reliable.

5000-mah is enough for the 1 mile.
I race this hull and have found cg balance is everything.
Make your ideal marks and play with it in different water
conditions. It is the fastest the more tail heavy you run,
but also to more difficult to drive.
You will need 6000-mah or more if you run offshore.

Excellent info gentleman. Thanks a bunch! I set up the boat for 2P with the packs outboard so I would have more play room with the CG. Will probably get a pair of 4s 3300's for oval racing. I built the boat for Offshore at IMPBA Spring Nats in Atlanta (which was supposed to bet this weekend). She'll see oval time until I can make it down. Atlanta runs P-Lim on the big Open Offshore Course so I see a pair of 5,000's and a bunch of prop testing in the future. :)

Mike - Atlanta runs under IMPBA rules - NO limit on mAMPs, or # of packs parallel.

Thanks Larry. I was concerned with unnecessary weight from bigger batter packs. I know extra weight was no issue and many times beneficial with the P-Monos I had built in the past. I don't know if this is the same case with P-Limited. I built this new boat light.

A pair of 3300's is perfect but you will likely overheat the 150 on the 1915. Once it shuts down.........throw it away. They don't ever work right again.

As Terry indicated the pair pf 3300's are perfect. The extra ma's pay off in lap 5-6. For a 1500kv motor you need pitch but not diameter. Try a 1716-1717 or cut an M545 down a little. OR spend $50 on a leopard 3660 2050kv and just use the 1500 for offshore classes. 2050 and a 1714 is a great setup and or try a CNC 442/3.

Sorry Mike. I totally missed the 1500kv part of the equation. That 1915 will work without hurting any of the parts.

Nice thread. I was going to try the 1915 on a 1500kv Dyna.

Runs good in my DF33 with 10k on board.

It's all good Terry. I remember about 8 years ago when it seemed the 445 was the go to prop for P-Lim Sport Hydro's on the West Coast. That prop however was just too much for my club pond. I tried it out and it ran hot. In the years following, we had two newbies also try the 445. One I believe even had a boat built by Tony. I warned them both not to run too long on the first run. They didn't listen and . It always pays to be cautious on the first run.

Yeah, the M445 was perfect for the 2000kv Aquacraft motor but it was on the ragged edge of baked potato. Another nice prop for hydros on the AQ motor was the H5. Great setup. Also close to the edge. Trouble with being at the edge is it's easy to cross over to the dark smelly side. Put the batteries in the wrong spot in a mono and fr'shizzle.

Then the glitch in the supply matrix happened and a bunch of guys that had their boats pretty sorted (they thought) started melting motors. Ugh. All ancient history now.

Haven't really had a P-Ltd Mono class out here in L.A. I agree the m445 in an FE30 works well with a motor from the good batch. For P'Ltd. Cat we went down to 1800 motors with a m445 or the AZ guys use 1500's with biggie props. BTW Don Huff has the Drifter now

Hi Tony, That Drifter gets around. LOL Don must have some record trials in mind.. We haven't had a record trials in my district for a couple years now. I kind of miss it.
