What I am running at the moment is the x445 on fdm trans with 9xl on 2x5s temps are all low my top speed has been at 43 to 44 mph but with the 2x 5s take off has been lagging most likely due to the weight. I was thinking of trying an m645 which is the same dia as the x445 but has a higher pitch has anyone tried the m645 with any luck?

You should be able to run an x648 with ease. That should increase the speed to around 50 mph and the takeoff should be much better. Don't bother with an x645, too small for that gear ratio.

I have tried the ss230 with some bad results though the pitch on the 230 is double that of the 648I also collect vintage rc buggies here is my blog http://acmracing-vintagerc.blogspot.com/

I have no idea where you heard that BS, but the pitch on both is virtually the same - 3.0" vs 3.04". What do you mean by "some bad results"? Based on the information you have (finally) supplied it should work very well.

Well top speed was actually less and started to thermal after about 3 minutes of run time with the ss230 temps on motor 121 not so bad but the esc 157 I thought the x648 was 1.6 pitch. I may have to just try an x447 I think the real power issue has to do with the hacker 77 not enough power for the 48mm propI also collect vintage rc buggies here is my blog http://acmracing-vintagerc.blogspot.com/
