    cowling hardware

Anyone found anything recently to hold cowlings on? Trying to get ideas for the back of the cowl on my Micro Hydro. The front is no problem just the back.

I thought of suggesting these. I have a couple. But I think they would be too large for a small boat.

I use small countersunk stainless screws set flush with the hatch in the corners.
The screws go into a triangular piece of 1/8 plywood in each corner of the hatch opening.
The hatch is still sealed with tape, but the screws make sure the hatch wont blow off in a big wipe out.
I can provide a picture if you want.

Two methods I use : [ for front of hatch, should work on back also]

#1 ; rivet mating with hole on Drifter S

#2 ; garage door opener clip on DF 33 - maybe too big for small boat

I really been thinking about some of the small rare earth magnets. I have a few and good lord the are damn near impossible to seperate them from each other.

I have seen a few sellers that make thin square and circular ones (thin enough to tape over). I'm just a little worried they may be to strong and end up tearing the fiberglass.

Pretty much any good online gas rc boat store has them. However you can make them yourself with bits and pieces from you LHS(or HK if your that way inclined) and some o-rings from a local seal specialist/supplier.
