The battery companies that are starting to "cater" to the FE crowd should realize that race classes stipulate total MAH { and serious racers are likely the customers using the premium-price batteries}; e.g. P-class limits power to 10K MAH. Why then a 5050 or such battery which goes over this limit on 2P?2008 NAMBA P-Mono & P-Offshore Nat'l 2-Lap Record Holder; '15 P-Cat, P-Ltd Cat 2-Lap

Nothing at all. The 5050 30C cells are Enerland's new V2 cells. Notice that the 10S1P pack is really two 5S packs in series, see the two balance taps, one at each end??Originally posted by Ub Hauled View Postdoes anyone know the difference of the so called boat pack vs. the regular ground or air packs?
I just got some of the Enerland V2 cells made up in a 5S2P that I run two in series for 10S1P in an electric pattern plane. SO far they seem to be pretty decent cells. Those are lower C rating, only 18C which is fine for the planes.
Pat at RC lipos will be carrying the new 30C v2 cell packs as soon as Enerland gets caught up on production.Don't get me started

Where did you get the PolyQuest packs?? Pat has not gotten any of the new Enerland 30C packs in yet. They will be labeled with his PolyRC label when he does.Don't get me started

From the Enerland Site:
Enerland cells are now exclusively used in own brand packs of Enerland™ & Poly Quest® and some affiliate packs labeled with Enerland as manufacturer source only.
The other battery companies that have used Enerland cells in the past, now have changed to a Chinese cell that can not equal the power or duration of the Enerland XQ2 30C cells or the "new" XF-43C cells due to be available in the next several weeks.
I guess they are talking about Flightpower, Thunderpower, PolyRC?Mini Cat Racing USA

You missed this part:
That is Pat's PolyRC brand. Made by Enerland and they are the EXACT same cells as Enerland uses in their PolyQuest brand.Enerland cells are now exclusively used in own brand packs of Enerland™ & Poly Quest® and some affiliate packs labeled with Enerland as manufacturer source only.
And Steve is correct about TP and FP, neither one no longer uses Enerland cells. The why depends upon who you talk to.Don't get me started

without sounding Arrogant..... these suppliers are catering to the rest of the world as well, not just Amercans, as us in OZ can't paralell them, so the 5050mah or 5500mah offered by the others is perfect in 1p series as we have a total weight limit per class ie 4s 600gram, 6s 900gram and so on so the extra 500mah gets us over the line with the extra power too.Originally posted by properchopper View PostThe battery companies that are starting to "cater" to the FE crowd should realize that race classes stipulate total MAH { and serious racers are likely the customers using the premium-price batteries}; e.g. P-class limits power to 10K MAH. Mabey we should try and change the mAh limit rules,, with NAMBA and IMPBA,, mabey to 12,000mAh instead of 10,000 total??Nothing like keeping you lipos warm and your prop wet!!

I stand corrected; guess I hadn't considered those not goverened by NAMBA/IMPBA specs.
Unfortunately, rule changes involve lots of doing [and controversy].
