Hi Guys-I have discovered that the lube I always used for my gas boats doesn't seem to be working with my FE boats. That is, the cables are almost dry of lube when I could get a whole day of racing out of one application with the gas boats. I realize the shaft is turning much faster with the FE, so are you racers using oilers, teflon liners or what? The lube I have been using is called Bayou Magic from Gas Parts Plus and it always worked for gas. Thanks for the help-Russ
I run my wire and cable in straight brass tubing. Automotive gear oil works great as a lube, stays on for three heats as long as I keep a short length of silicon tubing on the inboard end of the stuffing tube to keep water out of the hull. It doesn't require mixing of two or three parts, and a quart is cheap at Wally's. I use 75-90W G-5 synthetic oil, just make sure it has an extreme pressure (EP) additive. I've set lots of SAW records and won lots of heats with that lube in straight brass tubing. Below is the one I use, but similar products should work as well.
