The batteries, motors, hardware and everything else is here. Steven can get you a hull I am assuming. I guess it takes some hard work and a pile of cash. Kind of interesting that Joerg and company are over there blazing trails and some (experts?) ran him off the forums over here.

and then the heat is on.

Yikes! That's gonna make the owner flinch...
I do think that in America fast cats can be done just like in Europe... the problem is, the cost benefit factor. For some odd reason, here the thought of sinking the amount of money needed to make a really fast cat is not very welcome, on the other hand, overseas, they take the hobby way more seriously.... also people here rather have 20 boats instead of 10 boats + 1 that costs a lot.
As far as craftsmanship, we all have seen the nice work that Jay does to his "babies", there are others that do the same clean job... so it's not lack of qualification, it's just lack of will.
that's my believe and I am standing by it

PS: Joerg does know a thing or two about props, lol.

About the Craftsmanship :

Ub Hauled is right : everybody who WANTS, CAN do it !
Another factor : you Americans are more into RACING.
A raceboat doesn't have to be neat, it has to be "solid".
In Europe we barely race, so we want our boats to look neat.
European hulls are fragile and thin, and the joints mostly suck.
That's why we HAVE to make our hulls solid, by using loads of carboncloth.
And carbon looks neat, that's a bonus , when reinforcing our hulls :-)

Amen, and I am guilty as I have a lot of boats but for many reasons I did not take the plunge as far as building a very competitive exciting boat. A lack of knowledge...YES....This is a great point.
To be very honest for me, I love building boats and learning from other peoples experiences. I am not a standard bearer. I am a follower of the enthusiasts that push this hobby. Joerg, we love you

Steve N owns penty of records but if he did not then I would think he would be willing to sponsonr a couple motors for the Americans to set records. Yes, props are the key but they can be done over here.

Steve N can supply whatever motor/wind you want. It can be done but we just do not have the patience...the product is there.

Also, GPS is questionable,...we all know that. Am I discounting this ....no way. Joerg is the ticket but there are folks behind him that also make him go very fast.

Jeff, the hull is Achim's and Joerg probably helped him with the prop... that's his specialty, Arnie and Gunnar are the hull designers.
GPS is questionable, I agree but I have to say that with a good lock the GPS is dead on... I would say this "record" is unofficial but plausible w/o a doubt, remember that this German, Achim, has the N2 SAW world record at 104mph (I know there isn't a world record, that's according to my book)!!!! he knows a little about going fast.

john, yes, GPS is questionable... there is a thread going on here somewhere where the "geeks" explain why... all I know is that my spec boat once did 99mph GPS'd and nobody is taking that away from me!!!

So there ya have....the Offshore experts have made claim that none of this means anything. GPS is incorrect and we have no idea how fast the boat ran. Maybe they put the GPS in a car right before the boat or something.

I now know why Joerg has left the building.

Maybe the time shoots in the IMPBA and NAMBA are all wrong as well. I was not there to measure them. (smile)

I have a GPS in my car, one I use for hiking and one for the boats. Having them all on in the car and comparing them to my speedometer as I drive..................all with in 1-2 Mph of each other.

I think that we are splitting hairs now that actually mean nothing. Does it really matter if he did 200,,,or 205,,,,or 202,,,,or 203,,,,or 201??? He went FAST!!!!!!!!!!!! In the 204 kmh range.

Faster than me and just about everyone else....well done you crazy Germans

Read the results for a very small target area. That is 300 to 500 feet and a short reception time it is very interesting as to verifiction of speed. That is why dragsters and Fe boats are measured with a tried and true method and only those results will be accepted by the governing boards, but I still like to see how I am doing with my Garmin gps system.

I did not say it was off like 20mph! I have all the confidence in the world it is very very close. I own two of them myself.

Yes, I know who these people are and have exchanged many e-mails in the past with several so relax. All I mean is it is not a record until it is verified and logged as such.

It is a big feat to push that boat to 120+ mph.
