I'm planning on getting it shortly. It will be my first rigger build. I've been hearing really good things about this boat. I was just curious about the larger version that I had heard was coming out soon. I think that the rigged insanity will be plenty big enough for me though. Probably gonna go 4s with etti 150 and a 8 or 7xl. I'm wondering if the 7xl would be too hot of a motor in this setup.

For sport running I would use the 8xl and 4s lipo power. Be sure to use Castle bullet connectors on battery and motor connections.

Heat must be his reasoning. With an 8xl i'll be able to turn a pretty big prop, causing lots of amps and heat. solder would melt on a deans style connector. I know because i've had it happen to me more than once.

Bullet connectors handle current better then deans. Deans are good for around 50 amps constant, they tend to warm up pretty easily so bullets are a better option, they conduct better thus are more efficient, 5.5mm-6mm for 4s and higher setups.

Bullets help more to guard against voltage drop. You might also want to invest in atleast 35c LIPO cells if using 4s1p (two 2s 35c 4500mah). Start small on the prop... I would use a L38 x 55 to start with.
