    Outboard on a mono

Hello, I want to try a P limited outboard- OS lower on a mono as a sport boat. I have not seen outboards on a mono, what might be a good hull to try? I was thinking of a wild thing kit but dont know if the transom is high enough to put the motor at a good height. Thanks for any suggestions. Sorry, This was supposed to be in the general talk forum, I dont know how to put this there.

A couple years ago, I had bolted a Hyperformance 3.5 lower with a Full P motor on a 33? Wildthing kit build from MLBoatworks. The Hyperformance lower JUST barely fit on the transom. It was incredibly fun as a weekend boat to run but the hull had a high center of gravity and became unstable (nasty chinewalk) at any speed above 45mph or so. No matter what tuning it remained unstable at higher speeds.

Then I tried the same setup with a P-limited motor and it was still great fun to run but was still (a bit less) un-stable at speed during my attempts to race it with my NAMBA club.

I ended up converting the hull into a traditional inboard and now run it in Full P mono.

Good luck with a Wildthing build as an outboard. It can be done and is super fun realizing there will be stability limitations with that much weight high up on the transom.
