Does the total mah limits only limit what the motor sees?

examples: in series running two batteries with 7000 mah each would be ok in a 10000mah limit because the motor sees only 7000mah.

ex 2: running two batteries with 5000 mah in parallel is ok because thats 10000mah the motor sees

The limit is the total mAh capacity, the motor “sees” everything. Two 2S 5000 mAh packs in series are the same as one 4S 5000 mAh pack - at an average discharge rate of 100 amps the pack will be empty in about 3 minutes. Two 4S 5000 mAh packs in parallel will last ~6 minutes discharging at 100 amps because the capacity is 10,000 mAh.

Ok thanks. i could also run 2 2s packs in the 6200Mah range in series to get a little more run time?

Yes, it's whatever capacity the ESC sees. If you counted each individual cell's capacity, then all we could run on 4S would be a single 4S 2,500 mAH pack, because 4 times 2,500 = 10,000.

So you can run up to two 2S 10,000 packs in series, or up to two 4S 5,000 packs in parallel, or even get creative and run four 2S 5,000 packs in both parallel and series.
