One reason I was shying away from brushed motors was if I ever wanted to speed up the boat. If I went brushless I might not have to buy all new electronics. But after thinking about it, I would probably have to do that anyway.
I want the boat to be fast, but it doesn't have to be insanely fast. Maybe if it's slow, it should be able to drop a depth charge or shoot a torpedo.

I have used Mack Marine power units...motors and gearboxes and their drive hardware. Very good quality.
