    Sport 40 power, opinion's wanted

Hey all, I am starting my Whiplash sport 40 soon. I am so impressed with the sport 20 that I can not help myself!
I am seeking opinion's on my power. I have a 1527 1d sitting here doing nothing along with a CC hydra 240. So I am thinking that at 36" long 4s 2p polyquest 5000mah 25c packs with the 1527 and CC240 with a 452/3 blader with a bit of work.
What do you all think? On the money or not.
    Cheers

I have run a 1527/1D in my 33" P Sport Hydro and it works. However it is pretty hot and will not pull an x450/3 in an oval race without excessive heat (ESC and cells 140+). I suspect that in a larger hull it will be too much; I have since gone to a 1521/1.5D in my P Sport.

Frankly, IMO the Whip 40 is a 6S hull if good performance with decent component life is the goal. Of course a lot depends on how you run the boat, race or sport. I'd have to recommend a Neu 1527/1Y on 6S for your big Whip. Others may have different experiences but the extra voltage allows great performance without the excessive amp draw of a 4S system.

I run 6s on my Neu 1527 1.5D motor and it runs great and stays fairy cool. I may try a 1527 1Y motor next season swinging a larger prop and see which setup I like better.

Well guys I have read that the 1527 1d is a great motor, this is a quote from a RR forum thread.
1527 1D spinning a dasboata propshop 55 mm 3 blade (can't remember if it was a 17 or a 18 ). I run PolyQuest 4500 30C 4s2p. Just one pass at 68 mph. I just could resist trying. The batteries didn't even unload (came back 110 degrees) on the run so it probably had about 5 mph more in it if I wanted to get stupid. I'll leave the SAWs to the experts ... I like going in circles.

In heat racing trim I will need a x646/3 or a x447/3 with some mods to slow it down a bit.

        The hull is 35.4" long.
This was in a mono so I figure a 36" hydro should be OK.

Andy, why not give the new Feigao L series a whirl.

Douggie you are on to something there. A 12L on 8s looks to be right on the money, I will do some research and see if they like that many volts but I can not see why not. I may well have a nearly brand Neu motor for sale soon. How many Feigao motors can I blow up for the cost of a 1527 1d?
