Sounds good, i know that on most radio transmitters, you can adjust servo end point travell for left and right, or in this case up and down. I presume a very high torque servo will be needed, or maybe even 1/4 scale..?
Im sure however ive read about standard size servo's these days with almost as much torque as the 1/4's.
The biggest problem i see is that a 3rd channel will be needed. Unless you can hook up 2 chanels(1 esc & 1 trim servo) so that at low speeds..motor is trimmed down, then adjusts up to your desired full trim up when your motor is at full revs.
Not sure if you get much out as far as performance though, the hole shot onto plane would be better for sure, but then time taken to trim up...it might be only minimal but:-
Imagine a full trailer tilt for when you come into shore
now that would make for some real scale rc!
Also, asked Steve at OSE, if i can change my order to the Graupner GTX as its flex drive and will be stronger than the gears, that could srtip as sugested by others.

[QUOTEAlso, asked Steve at OSE, if i can change my order to the Graupner GTX as its flex drive and will be stronger than the gears, that could srtip as sugested by others.[/QUOTE]
I have been advised by Steve @ OSE that the flex drive in the GTX is very thin and would not be as strong as the shaft/gears in the EP1.
I have since re-changed my order back to the EP1.
Steve must hate me,
Steve.
Im happy because i like the scale look of the EP1.
Am going to build a tunnel to also put this motor on as i dont think the Robbe Prinzess will handle brushless set up too well. Also i would like to see what sort of max speed i can get out of EP1

I know for sure that garnuper (sp) has a setup. Im not sure how good it works but I know they have it all setup to run a outboard and adjust it. I like the idea of using a Y harness and haveing the servo and esc hooked together. Im pretty sure if you can set the boat up correctly you can get some speed out of it. I think the hardest part would be just checking the plastic gears in the servo. Especially if you run ruff water the bouncing of and on the water can strip them then you have a loose outboard. But another thing you could do is set up a servo on a 3rd channel. They do it on a nitro or gas car to shift gears why cant you do it on a boat. The only difference is your moving a boat up and down.Originally posted by kck741 View Postwow wouldnt it be cool to have a servo trim the outboard as you get up on a plane like on the real thingFailure is the First step to SUCCESS

thanks Kck741, will look into that graupner set up. Good point about the plastic gears, i have a digital servo that is high torque from my rock crawler, and has ball bearing supported Metal gears. I think this will suit fine.
However i dont think i will have the EP1 on the RObbe Prinzess hull for long, as im in the process of building the Castrol Tunnel hull already!. Balsa construction so it will be very light weight, dont know how to cover it but. Can you cover in very thin fibre glass and resin? I would hate to hit some debri and punch a hole through it!

It really doesnt matter if its wood, carbon or fiberglass your are going to punch a hole in it. The thing that does matter is your weight and how hard you hit it. As far as covering the boat with a thin fiberglass and resin coat you should be fine. It will toughin the boat up and give you a stronger hull. I would say yes that would be a good way to go unless you have a certain weight you are looking for. But from what it sounds like you dont really care about that to much so go ahead and coat it.Failure is the First step to SUCCESS

i ran one of those outboards about 4 years ago with acouple of diffrent brushed motors with up to 14 cells on a tunnell hull never had any problems with it at all and i gave it a fairly hard life

Thats aewsome Scott, thanks for the heads up.
~What sort of speed do you think you got out of it and what turn BM was it?
~Can you recomend a good prop?
Ive got a 36x55 grimracer prop coming with it, that i'll give a try.
Ocean R, i filled the sponsons on the balsa tunnel hull today with expander foam. FAR OUT does stuff EXPAND!. when they say fill 1/3rd they really mean 1/3rd!. OOpps had the stuff frothin out everywhere. hehehe. the pleasures of building your own boats.
Decided im just going to fill gaps, dope and sand, then a couple coast of paint. foam already added a bit of strenght and weight. will never sink anyways.
Can you please send a link about this trim system? cant find it anywhere.

i ran a graupner (600) i think brobably ran around the 30mph mark. this you will probably laugh at but i also had a 10 turn motor i brought of a guy who raced 540 mod touring cars and got about 8 rotors with it,and i was working at a place with a lathe so could re machine the coms. it was rather fast with 14 cells but i had to replace brushess and re do the com after each run. can remember props

I have the EP1 on a ABS tunnel hull. It has the SV27 BL system in it. I ran a Y535 props, got about 35mph from it untuned. I only ran it once and then decided to redo my setup and have yet to finish it...My prop hasn't been wet in a while.

ya it will take me a while to find it. right after this im going to sleep and i have a pretty busy schedual until sunday. I might have some time on saturday to find it then so ill try to get that for you soon.Failure is the First step to SUCCESS

Thats Great!!!, thanks Ocean Racer. couldnt work it out at first then after starring at it for a while it struck me.
The steer servo is on a pivot plate. The motor is also on a pivot hinge. the second servo pulls the steering servo mounting plate up or down, which in turn pulls the motor up or down from the steering linkages!. brilliant. Shoudnt be too hard to fab this one up i think.
Also the Graupner GTX600 (not 650) is shaft driven like the EP1. not flex cable like the GTX650!. Cool.
Got my tunnel hull F1 painted and finished today. tested it in the pool. dam this thing floats well! In the fueslage, once shaped in balsa, i filled the top half in foam, for strenght and in case it came off as its just a push on tight fit, it wouldnt sink, or sit in the water with little boyancy.
Well!! to my supprise, when it capsizes, the hull sits on a 45' angle because the foam wont allow it to sit flat upside down! so no radio gear or battery will get wet, and only the top 1/4 of the engine will be in the water.
I"ll have to take some photos. just a little push and it goes back over!. If i made the fuselage a little taller...... it wouldnt even capsize i rekon!. Go the space invader foam!!! worth its weight in gold. Also as my sponsons are filled with the foam, it makes it a lot stronger and densor, also will not fill up water if i get a hole in the hull. So i didnt even worry about fibreglassing it. just doped, filled and painted.
Cant wait to get my outboard now, Steve has already sent it, so by the time i get some race stripes, stickers and fit the reciever and battery velcro (so i can shift weight till i get correct CG, my motor whould be here. ESc also, just got a cheapy mystery 100amp from ebay. with a cooling plate. hmmmm that reminds me, need to fit transome water pickup and plumbing.

You know that the OutBoard has its own water pick up unless you modify the cavitation plate.
If you dont want to modify your hull you can cut a hole in the outboard motor cover and run
your tubbing through it.Failure is the First step to SUCCESS

Great idea Ocean racer. Saves me an extra pick up. But do you think water after the motor would be too hot for the ESC cooling plate?
Got my hull all stickered up.... heres some pics!!
