My hobbies come out of my paycheck as a separate direct deposit line item - I never even touch the money. I pay the bills, but she keeps the records. She knows EXACTLY how much I spend.

Here is how the story went in my house....

Me: Dear I have just been to the Doctors and he said I am suffering from stress and I should get something to relax me. He suggested model boats. He said if I did not do something quickly then I could have a nervous breakdown.
Her: Honey I told you that you had something wrong with you but you would not believe me. You should listen to the doctor baby.
Me: Honey I am not really interested in boats but just for you I will do as he said. I think for me I should get a boat that gives me a little excitement, something fast.
Her: Honey I am so happy that you are going to listen to me.

Does she know? No but it is for my health so it does not matter and it was her idea, right? As you get older you get cunning or you get no boats.

Paddy, how do you sneak those big parcels into the house? Unfortunately for me, as most packages come from another country. There is a lovely note that is left on the door by the carrier stating you can pick up your goods at this location, BUT you owe duty,GST, PST taxes and brokerage charges based on the original cost of the item. Busted.
