would it be possible for the more experienced boaters to show us how to design a cap bank for a particular boat, esc, batteries? I'm at the stage where I need a bank and would like to know how to do figure it out. If ok with you, I will list my boat, etc and maybe you guys can chime in. Its my own design rigger that is gas engine size, 48" overall. Old school design comparable to a crapshooter with running pads underneath instead of rear sponsons. Laying one up now, fiberglass with gelcoat finish. motor will be T.P. 5670 840kv. 10s 10,000 mah, using 4 revos at 5s each. Swordfish 300 hv lite. Square cable drive. your help , as always, is appreciated.

Why do you think you need a cap bank? I know they don't hurt but my 10s saw mono ran an 1100 kv motor and SF 300esc and I didn't need a cap bank.
Try using the search function and you will find OSE sells the caps you need. They need to be soldered as close to the esc as possible. I solder mine right on top of the power lead that's soldered to the esc. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/search.php

hi mark. appreciate the input. maybe my thread should have been "do I need a cap bank for my set-up and if so, how do I design it"? I'm pretty sure there are many people on this forum that don't know whether or not a cap bank is required. and esc's don't come cheap. Don't get me wrong, listing my set-up on this forum and getting responses is nice and all, but I have received 2 responses to this question and 2 different answers. just looking for more knowledge on the subject. sure, i could put a cap bank on it. I used them on my castle 240 when running my 1527 on 6s. I was advised on this forum to put them on. again, I'm just wanting to find out more about if these cap banks are needed or not. thanksOriginally posted by MarkF View PostWhy do you think you need a cap bank? With 10S2P (because of the extra wiring) I would use a cap bank, cheap and easy insurance. Yeah it's not exactly "needed" but your electronics will appreciate it. I've leaned my lesson and puffed up cap's because I was too lazy and impatient to bother with a bank, it's cost me $400 in repairs and all could have been prevented with 10% that cost. Like Mark said above, just get them from OSE.
