How to do that with V-shaped boat?

Simple lay the dowel east to west and boat north to south. Place boat on top of dowel and start to balance it by moving you battery packs around. Balance the boat at about 30% measuring from the back of the boat. 30" hull should balance at about 10" from the rear.

How should it be on dowel? V or /\ ?

It should be like the small letter T. You put the middle of the boat the way it would float in the water on top of the middle of the dowel. I don't know how else to explain it. The V should be down. Realize that it will not balance left and right. You are looking for the balance front to back at 30% COG from the back.
