    I apologize that I didn't get to start the testing last weekend. I should be able to this weekend. I took the boat apart and planned on some repairs and painting it over the weekend because it was raining. I barely got the first coat of base done by Sunday evening. I had to wait till it dried because I needed to sand and touch up a few spots. Bugs got all in it. My fault for leaving the shop door open and painting it at night under a light. I put the second base coat on during the day yesterday to minimize that. I'll shoot the clear in the next day or so and then put it back together the next day. Should easily be done by Saturday. Here's the first coat for those who haven't seen it. The clear will really make it pop.

    I'm all for kiss but sometimes if you wanna succeed you gotta do a little more work. I'm not settled on what I want to do just yet but I think I'm going to try a pump with a bottom straight pickup.

    I have been running a telemetry receiver in one of my spec boats and a temp sensor on the motor. Starting motor temp is what ever the ambient temp is. I have seen from 61 degrees Fahrenheit to 104 F on the motor before running. The 104 was last weekend in 98 degree weather and I had just taken the boat out of the black Tahoe with windows shut. I have found that the cooling of a set up that "lives" is in the 98F to 108F, at least this is will run for years will not burning up. The big surprise to me was that the when you stop the motor will increase 20F all most immediately. I still have more testing to do and get two more receivers and temp sensors for my other spec boats. A pump system will allow running higher temps but works against the KISS method.

    Also if it's a diaphragm pump then water should pass through with my pickup but I really want it for the cool down factor at the end of my first run when it's sitting and I'm waiting for the wake I just made to go away.

Motor run time was around 10 minutes, (18,000mah). But she is heavy, and an amp hog, so after 2 minutes of 50mph figure 8's the temps were pretty high. This boat has telemetry++++! Rather than just bring her in with 8000+ mah still on the mains, I would just let her sit out on the water putting on her light show, (oh's, and ah's from the crowd, but eventually they want to see her go). The trouble is, the temps would not really drop low enough for me to take another few laps within 2, or 3 minutes. That's where the pump came in. BTW, the boat has 7 channels.
    I wish you well in your endeavors, you could be breaking new ground in saw *longevity*.


    My plans were to first check out the flow first. I have three different pumps ordered. Next was to measure amperage with my multi meter. Than to power it, first thought was to use a bec off the main power but I don't want to take away from speed giving power to run it. So if it uses too much power then I'll add a small additional battery to it. I'll use a pico switch to turn it on with the third channel.

    I'm not too worried about it. I have a sf300 brand new in the box for my mono that I'm building so I might try it. I'd rather not push this castle esc to its limits anyway. I know on my regular prop is fine so it's not necessary but I'm thinking the sf300 might put down more top end power. Only thing I can do is try. I can't wait to get my micro pump in. That will help with heat soak.

    You can't disable the current limiting on the XL2 like you can on the ice 200 air ESCs, best you can do is turn the limiting up to 300A.
