Lobster boat ; tab on outrigger is bent, Why?

I bought a used lobster boat and on the right outrigger there is a tab going down into the water. About 1/2 way down it is bent to the inside.
What is the reason for this? Thanks; don

Probably the turn fin.....its there to help turn the boat to the right (don't turn hydros left!), its bent to grip the water better during turns.

OK; Don't turn left? Can I turn left at slow speed? This seems backwards; The 1:1 hydro races I have seen turn left only. ( Ohio Governors cup) Don

They make left turns only because it's a race standard. In USA RC boating is done all right turns except for some scale classes and offshore has a left turn or two in it. Most RC props made are for ccw rotation and so we make right turns to avoid spinning out. Others may explain it better.

Thanks; I can see that without the fin it would not turn well. Most of my experience ( real and RC) has been with "V" or similar. Don
