Paul Harvey asked that once when I was on the road. I thought about it for days and couldn't understand why it was a "hard" question. Then the answer came to me....he said hydrodynamics! lol Got me good!

Scroll down and check out Venom Racing's 55" Gas Cat converted to electric.

I say design a Cat in the 36" to 45" range...slightly smaller than the Large Venom hull but large enough to handle choppy water.

Very cool idea. But I think it's too big for most guys. Building a hull like that would limit people like me, who don't have $1500 sitting around for a toy boat, from building it. If I was going to build a boat that big I'd make it a gasser. Sorry Detox. I'm gonna stick to the 32" plan.

A 42 inch cat gets really expensive to power and run on a regular basis. In my experience my 26" cat design was to small for any size of chop over 3-4 inches. The 42 inch MTI runs great in most chop but is way to expensive to power. Im designing a 34-36" mystic That should absoutly fly on 4s with a neu. Designing a cat takes quite a while to design and construct a prototype. Ive done roughly 5 hulls now of various configurations. They usually take me about 6 months start to finish as long as im motivated. Good luck if you need help let me know.

Do you have any pictures of your designs i could look at? Any pointers for making a "GREAT" hull?

a more modern version of the good old mean machine make it a cross between the roundness of say a skunkworks but the handling of a MM.

No progress to report. Considering a mono. Cost of design and prototype of catamaran exceed budget.

Best bet for you seeing a cat from me is for me to duplicate one of your custom designed hulls.

I will send free carbon version of your hull to whom ever participates. I will return your hull back to you as well.

then i wold not be that hull anymore would it?
If I was in your shoes, I'd avoid even trying to change it... you have to ask yourself the cost/benefit
of changing a hull even if it already is a copy of the Jolly (by Toysport)...
                              just my 2 cents.

The copy cat from china is a copy from Hydro&Marine Agitator and does not need changes in design it can handle speed up to 100mph
