It's all about the fun. Even for racer types it's still just a hobby.

The guys that take it too serious lose patience and move on to something else. Usually.

Some are serious, but we do have fun. I biked by there yesterday and stopped to look for that prop I lost. It's going down quick!

They're just a different animal. Done well they're quite a bit faster. They race in different classes entirely. I can keep up with the P sports with my P mono if we don't ever turn. They can carry a lot more speed through a turn and take less time to get pack up to full speed after the turn.

Summer isn't over. If the TX boys are saying "come out and play" you should check out what they're running. Pick something that puts you on the water with them. I can't say enough about the fun I get from playing boats with other boat nuts.

I'm not sure I have the patience for a wood kit but I will definitely consider. Keep in mind I have never raced so I have no idea really about the capabilities of the different hull types. I just know the mono handles rougher water well. Do the sport hydros just totally out class monos and cats?

They can. Next time we go out I'll bring a Q class whiplash so you can see. Looking at what you did with that g10 you'd have no issues building one from scratch. Both Blazer and ML-Boatwork kits are pretty easy to do.

Build a p or q sport hydro, then you'll have 2 boats to come play with us next spring!

haha Or build both. P sport and Q sport are fast, fun, and you can build a wood kit without having to be a rocket scientist.

Oscar that piece of g10 is going to work nicely thanks! With my 3S batteries all the way back it is about 9.5" cg. Tons of adjustment forward. I was worried a heavy 6S2P setup would add to much weight to the front and move the cg way off. I don't have any 6S batteries yet so to test I took my 3S batteries and added 8oz to each which put them at 700g each. About the weight of 4000mah 6S batteries I have seen. That moved the cg forward about .5" . So thankfully even with a 6S2P setup I will still be able to do 10" cg all the way back so I should be good to go. Just need to glue it in now.

Depends on how much work ya want to do.

There's a bunch of wood kit options that are really satisfying too. Blazer Marine and ML Boatworks make some great boats.

Aren't these great boats? Once you get it setup close they're a hoot to drive. Kind remind me of the old Titan29's. If you get it right they're just point and shoot.

Followed up with another 55.1 mph on 6S run. Didn't gain anything with both batteries being fresh. I guess that is a sign my batteries are healthy.

Also ran 4S and got 39.7 mph Not bad for only 22K RPM
