Hi! I have ordered a HK C1 Flowmaster twin cat, and i want to get rid of the little aluminium coupler. But i don't know if there are reversed collets. Will standards collets works both ways?

To my knowledge, the TFL stainless steel collet in the 5mmx3/16 size does come with reversed thread. I will say that if you are running .150 cable, then you are left with no possibility with a reversed thread.Originally posted by boilo56 View PostHi! If you want to spend a bit more money, this collet won't give you any trouble for reversed rotation.http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...?prod=mbp-1000 it is a clutch type of mechanism, so rotational force plays a minimal role in it.Too many boats, not enough time...

Hi, sorry, i misunderstood the meaning of your statement. speak french, and sometime, i have difficulties to get the real meaning of things. I''l check kintec, ut i have no luck with kitec latelly. Back order items, long time to ship the order... Maybe i'll give an other try.Originally posted by DCMW View PostThey have collets for left and right rotation twin systems that's what I'm understanding your first question to be pertaining to??

I knew about the motor, and i was guessing the flex was this size. But Thanks, now i can order the collets and better flex shaft! HK is back-order on all the spare parts for this boat...!Originally posted by martin View PostNot sure if your aware of the motor & flex diameters in the Flowmaster, the motor is 3.17mm or 1/8" & the flex is 3.12mm.

Andre, where are you in Quebec? I went to Orford for music camp in the mid 80's ( that makes me an old fart). Still have such fond memory of that part of the world, really beautiful. I fell in love with a beautiful French Canadian girl....Originally posted by boilo56 View PostHi, sorry, i misunderstood the meaning of your statement. speak french, and sometime, i have difficulties to get the real meaning of things. This was introduced to me by other racers and boaters. I build a twin and was searching for reverse collet for the 5mm x .150 size, had no luck and used them and have been very happy. I had used the 5mm x .187 before for normal rotation and I know that the machining of the metal parts and the threads is extremely true and precise. Note that it is made of aluminum alloy, the hex nut that you tighten for the collet really grabs the prongs so the cable is really secured.Originally posted by boilo56 View PostHow does this collet works? i never saw that kind of collet.
The so-called "clutch type" refers to how it is secured on the motor shaft. It is not secured the regular way like a set (grub) screw on the side and you need a flat spot on the motor shaft. The way it is secured to the motor shaft is by way of two screws on the side of the collet, you tighten them and they "shrink" the part that slides on the motor shaft. You don't need a flat spot----in fact, not all motors can use then if the flat spot is too wide, Their instruction clearly illustrates that.
