Hi new guy here, looking for a small container for receiver on my RC Boat . To help protect it from water any direction or help would great thanks . Paul

A lot of us just use a balloon or take a small Ziploc baggie and cut it too size and zip tie it...its what I do, never had a prob... DJ

I coat mine with epoxy.

I remove the PCB and dip it in liquid electrical tape, and reinstall it in the case. Only issue is that this still leaves the connections vulnerable to corrosion, which you can protect against with some CorrosionX, or as suggested above, place the entire RX in a balloon

The best solution is to make the boat watertight. Water and electronics do not mix well - receiver, servo, ESC, motor, batteries, none of them like water. It is possible to make almost any boat water tight, at most a few drops after 2 minutes of running. I can't understand why this is so hard for so many (not the OP) to comprehend........

Jay, for me its not so much while running, its those attempts at boat acrobatics at 70 + mph that I am protecting my electronics from the inevitable flooding...

its not hard to comprehend, but i always feel it better to be safe than sorry. Example...i just built a boat for my son.....everything was waterproof (and boat was submerge tested for over a minute and not a drop of water) except the receiver. The first and only time i'll rush to get it in the water and not epoxy coat it. well I had a leaking water jacket that i didnt forsee. It was a new combo I was trying.(ribbed castle 1415 and jacket was a tad too short).....Boat filled up with water. receiver died. Had i epoxy coated it, it would have been fine. So yea, the boat was water tight, but had a faulty seal on the inside. No offense but I see no logic in just saying over and over that its possible to make almost any boat water tight, that does not cover all situations....and.....because as we all know, stuff happens and its better to be safe than sorry!

Had a leak in a sailboat along the keel box, my Spektrum marine rx was literally under water, didn't know I had a problem until I pulled the hatch off. Never glitched or missed a beat, I use dielectric grease on the plugs.

Fair enough, but I just returned from a SAWs event where I blew my hydro over at a speed somewhat higher than 70 mph .....and no leaks.
OTOH last year I did hit a tree at ~80 mph - that wasn't pretty!

A watertight sport boat is both doable and pretty simple. Backup waterproofing does not hurt of course - but it should be "just in case" not the primary protection.

i blew my rivercat over at 90+ and no leaks....but juuuuust in case...everything is coated. o, and no hatch tape either. it sat upside down for about half an hour and no water go in. lucky i guess...lol

Hi Guy's thanks for input . I thought there maybe a container of some sort. I come from the Aircraft World << mil/spec Jets . And we always over build everthing. So It will be a balloon and some string tie with the Delecric Grease also . Paul

I use these for all my RXs. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...p?prod=dh-3628 I submerged one in a 5gal. bucket for a week and had no water in it.

Thanks Flraptor07 Victorville Kart.jpg Here my other hobby Unlimited Outlaw Dirt Kart . I run a CRF450 Honda on it. For my boats I have a practice casting pond, very near my house. That is were I have been running my two boats. It's looks like 40x80 yards in size. Just need some rain for level to come back up << little low right now for rudder clearance for whole pond, but that's what winter is for. I have a Blue Mania and Joysway Sea Fire. I also do Quad and Hex'a copters I fly at sunset on the golf coarse near my house, just weight for the last duffers and the place is mine for flying.
