Love this. Didn't know there was such thing as threaded rivets.

It's quite cool. I did a double take when I was walking down the Isle in harbor freight. Gone are my stressing days of how I'm going to bolt down my hatches. I used to dread that part of my build. Not anymore. I ordered a bag of the rivnuts the other day.

Let me tell you guys something. The thumb screws in the pic above I posted won't work unless you hatch and rail height is thin. Those are short. You can go to the hardware and the the thumbscrews that are int really threaded and use threaded rod or a cut to length stainless screw (what I did on the impulse) to get the length long enough. Finish it off by painting (or powder coating in my case) the thumb screws and use a stainless set see in the top of it to lock the threaded rod in place. If you look close you can see the set screw in the end of it.

You should go through the rest of the site, they got some really cool stuff! I use a lot of thier washers, stand offs and servo arms too, they also got a real nice cable setup with ends and a double servo arm for a pull-pull rudder.

I assume that the rivets will keep the hatch on, and TAPE will be used to keep the water out.

You could do it that way. I have had A canopy come off with just tape holding it on. So it would be extra insurance. However, I use a foam seal that makes it water tight. I despise tape. I have tested my boats in the boat tub completely submerged and it stayed dry. My shocker got water in it with hatch tape on it last run because the tape wasn't stuck well. I know this will be a never ending back and forth argument, so I'll say go with whatever you feel comfortable with. :)

Never thought of using the rivet nuts for this and i have a whole set with four different size inserts i will keep this in mind for my next build
