A Neu 1527/1Y on 6s is a bulletproof fast setup, you can use any prop from a 445/2 and get close to 50mph and run for 6-7 minutes or go w/ a 457/3 and scream into the 70's and try every prop inbetween!!!! Thats just me I have built plenty of twins and they're stoopid cool but I'm a racer and a single just makes more sense to me.

Hey Travis, you've been pumping out single motor builds faster than I can keep up with. I think the shocker is worthy of twins and you'll get to see what twins will do and you should find it a bit of a challenge along the way. Take your time and make it shine, srislash likely know all the pitfalls you could run into building it so you'll have support from someone that built one top notch. It will be a lot more stable at speed with the twins. Look what all the really fast boats are using, twins. I realize you know this but I say go for it. Worse case you never want to build a single again when your done and you can sell off the fleet as keith suggested:-) let there be twins!!

Twins, I know Scott built a single using a 1717 and FC aluminum mount, handled like crap. Too much top weight with those wide flat pads(I would love to modify these) I think.
The tunnel/deck design on these is beautiful, that section just slices through the air. It is very thin. And just be careful and place as much foam as you can in these, yes, the loss still hurts a tad.

Also if running 110 stingers some reinforcement would be a good call, mine kept getting bent outward.

And the other pair of 1717's are for my twin R-42, when I get to it.

Yes mine will be reinforced every where. I'm bad (good thing tho) about over doing things. I'll probably add enough weight where it'll need the 1717's. This should be quite interesting to say the least.

I would probably be capable of a better/lighter layup now(that was my first) but she weighed in at just shy of 11lbs with 5000mah in her (5s2p)

because of this forum ive learned to do a light but strong layup. Ill probably do two floor layers on this one. The part where the stingers mount will have carbon plate to reinforce it. i may sell the stingers im gettin and do the ones with support on top. if not, i may shorten them some. The transom and nose will be heavily reinforced. I'll do the same as i did to my rivercat on sponson floor. The whole front will be filled with foam too.

Not trying to argue by any means, but i cant keep the fact out of my mind that i have a 1717 and a fc 101 in my cheetah and it runs on 6s just fun. barely runs 100 degrees and has good run time too. now add in the fact that its in a less efficient hull and its only a single so its got to work harder.....

btw, you wanna sell a couple of your 1717's?

I definitely wouldn't use 1717s...to large for that hull. The fact that your 101 ESC isn't getting hot means nothing. I've WAAAYYY over loaded those ESCs and they still stayed nice and cool. They simply work just fine, until they don't. Every one I every fried stayed cool while running up to the point of failure. Keep in mind this is a 100A ESC. It was theorized that current capabilities would increase at lower voltages, but I still don't think 6s or 1717s is your best bet. Also, with all due respect (and remember I did say with all due respect, which means I can say anything I want now), I'm sure your Cheetah isn't anywhere near the speeds you're talking about reaching in this thread, so the comparison is really quite irrelevant. Running 60s and 70s is not in any way comparable to 100mph. The energy needed to move your boat faster increases exponentially (It's squared). Given that there is no efficiency change, it takes more power to get a boat over 90 than it would to make two boats run 60 at the same time.

If you want to run 80+ as you stated in your first post, I think 1600kv 3674, 4065, or even 4074 is fine. If you want to go over 100 reliably we should talk about getting a pair of Lehners.

By the way, here's a 37" cat with 101 ESCs and 3665 motors, smaller than anything I have recommended in this thread. It's proof that you don't need giant motors to go fast, and that only idiots hit their own wake at 100mph:

I have talked to a few guys about the 1870kv 4060 motors, most of the guys that HAVE run them say the 4050 motor holds up better and can spin more rpm safely.

I was going to get the 1870 4060 motors for my sport boat, instead decided on 2000kv 4050 motors. Twins need a lot of power to break 90 but you can have all the power in the world, if the rpm isn't there you'll be left disappointed every single time. Been there done that.
