thanks gennetico and tunda for the advice. i'll do that with my lipos with the ballon and shrinkwrap. i'm not looking to get speed records, just to have fun with it with alittle speed. i've noticed my 3s lipos were getting alittle hot too when i ran them last. i thought it was because of the saran wrapping, but figured too it was because of the draw the motor was taking and the drag in the water that was causing the lipos to work alittle harder. tunda, thanks for the pics. hope to meet up with some hawaii boaters soon.

unless you get a lot of water in your hull ( you shouldn't) then i would not worry about water proofing them.
i have a pair for 4s 30C lipo packs go under for about 5 mins and i still use them every day.

Miss Vegas
Hey RYDEFAB uh..... here is what happened to mine so far the Dremel tool got a way from me... as you can see I removed the sump in the tunnel area and flattened it out, I also removed the nose piece section that the hatch slipped over as I am going to glass the nose piece of the hatch on so that piec was no longer needed.

just got done putting in a new esc that my friend gave me. a Schulze Elektronik Future 18.46 watercooled brushless esc. now i can run 4s lipo's with it, and it's water proof and watercooled. man, the Aqua Craft motor woke up when i pulled the trigger with the 4s
! i'll post some pics of the install tomorrow after i clean everything up. trying to get it ready for the GTG this upcoming saturday. probably going to take it for a test run on tuesday before i go to work that nite.

Hello, I also recently converted Miss Vegas into electric. I got my inspiration from Genettico's youtube videos. Boat specs are:
Motor: Neu 1515 1.5Y 1500Kv
ESC: Hydra 240
Batts: A123 "Dewalt pack" cells in 6s2p config.
Prop: x438 best one so far, testing x640 and m440 at the moment
Radio: Futaba 2.4Ghz
Almost all parts purchased through offshoreelectrics.
Test results:
Speed: 40mph
Load: 65A
Voltage under load: 17.8V
Open circuit voltage: 19.8V
Power: 1157W
Pack temp: 130 F
10 - 12 minutes of playtime per charge, 3.5 minutes at full throttle.
EDIT:
Full load RPM: 22,600
Steering servo not pictured, mounted on top of the rudder with custom made bracket. Waterproof servo.
Battery pack capacity: 4.6Ah rated, 4.0Ah useful.
Battery recharge time: 30 minutes (10A), 15 minutes (20A) possible, but resulted in overheated and dead cell.
Today I tried 7s2p battery setup, turns out that charging voltage of 7 A123 cells in series equal exactly 6 LiPo cells in series. Charger cutoff voltages are 7 x 3.6V (LiFe) = 25.2V and 6 x 4.2V (LiPo) = 25.2V. This way i can use 6 cell charger in LiPo mode charging 7 LiFe cells. I cannot test exact speed right now (data recorder water damage), but it looks like at least 45mph now.

finally got it done for tomorrow's test and tune!!!! gonna go after work with my friend to see how it goes. expoxied the front half of the canopy to the hull, added a novak HV BEC, wrapped up the 2s and 3s lipos, sealed up the air scoops on the canopy, ballooned the rx and BEC, and the most important thing.............the fishing pole with the tennis ball. i'll get some pics of the test run tomorrow and post it up. i benched tested the motor and esc on 5s lipo's..............that thing sounded nuts!!!!!!!!!! can't wait for tomorrow afternoon. here's some pics of the progress i made this afternoon.

with the rear half of the canopy on..................................

also made a rudder for the other side of the boat, this way i can make left turns too. i had it on earlier before i made these changes, works pretty good. at least i can make left turns now while under throttle. made out of carbon fiber that i made for my dragcar, actually i just copied the otherside.

miss vegas electric!
Awesome job guys! Both setups look sweet! I would not run 7s on the hull! just because of the weight and the CG. I currently run on 4s and im getting about 43 to 45mph consistenly! I ran her today and it was a little choppy and windy! When I rode agaisnt the wind the boat gets highly on plane and today I broke my best record so far! 49.2mph!(forerunner 301) THATS CRAZY fast on 4s! Not likely to be reproduced unless the right circumstances arise! Im gonna post some vids of the way shes running now! what props are you guys using? im surprised you are only reaching 45mph with a neu on 6s! What depth on strut and angle?? how bout the rudder? I modified my rudder and polished it against better judgement but seemed to have paid off! The CG on this hull is what has made the BIGGEST difference on handling and speed, even when displaced less than 1/2 inch! because of the battery weight I wasnt able to put the strut depth shallow so i compensate with its angle and the rudder!
Do you guys have vids?? I wanna see some more videos of more electric MV other than mine.... please?? I promise to make a nice vid if I get to see other MV running out there! I myself used lots of info provied by MR.mauiman (thanx man) and reading on threads! I ran SEVERAL different configs and batteries before I settled on the last setup!
Again.... awesome job guys! Im glad to see I inspired someone to do better than me! Thats what our hobby is all about! BOAT ON!

I decided to go with 7 A123 cells in series because 6 was only giving me 40 MPH with Octura X438 prop. Now with 7 cells i am getting equivalent voltage of 6 LiPo cells. Also i am running M440 prop. The 45 MPH estimate is very conservative. But i don't have working data logger at the moment to test exact speed. I tried X640 prop and the speed was insane. But i could not balance it properly, so it causes shaft vibration. I am waiting untill Steve gets some in stock balanced and sharpened.
I decided to go with Neu 1515 1.5Y (1500 Kv), so I could run 6 a123cells efficiently. I wanted 6 cells to have longer runtime. Turns out having so much weight in the front actually improves my CG. Having this much weight seems to keep the boat steady over rough water. My CG is 1.5" behind the sponsons. Then i discovered that i could charge 7 A123 cells in series with 6 cell LiPo charger. My charger supports 6 cells max. Setting it in 6 cell LiPo mode gives me proper cutoff voltage for 7 A123 cells.
Note that i have moved the motor to the back of the boat, to make room for battery pack. So motor's weight also offsets CG to the back a little allowing me to have more weight in the front. I will post few more pics soon.

I should mention this is my best speed on 4s! It is faster on 6 cells!lol!
