OK, so most of you know I build full-scale aluminum boats for a living. I had a meeting with my boss today and got the OK to start designing and building 1/4 scale versions of three of our power boats - The Destroyer, The Wildcat, and our flagship AL24 Wakeboard Boat! I will of course start with the AL24 :D
In this new project I will also design 1/4 scale versions of several other boats I have built and designed in full scale. Offshore racers, Sprint racers, and my personal favorite the tunnel hull.

This will be a lengthy process as you all know I work from 50-80 hours each and every week so be patient with me as I get the ball rolling. In the mean time, if anyone has any questions, suggestions, or maybe just want more info, please let the posts roll!

Suggestions for powerplants and drive units will be greatly anticipated Keep in mind these will be 1/4 scale and I really don't see electric drive as an option.

Not too sure you would want to use the hobby king units or this project, they are cheap, looks well made but that is where it all stops. They are badly engineered and i fear you will be disappointed with them in the long run.
I know Adam at JETTEC is back up and going, sure the units are not cheap but they are the best on the market.
If you wanted to do a smaller version say somewhere around the 700mm long mark then i may be able to work something out with my units. PM me if you are interested.

This is the first time I have seen the jettec boats. Incredible and wow are the first words that come to mind. Just beautiful. You mentioned that you didn't think electric would be an option. 3-8 hp is attainable with electric power so I am curious what the other reasons are that make it a poor option. Not that I would have a problem with a big gas motor! Your boats definitely have style.

It wasnt that i thought electric was a good option, it definately is. It was i thought the Hobbyking units to be a poor option.
