Riggers isn't a bad idea.

Getting anything out of CMDi is tough these days. In fairness, that's second hand information.

The JAE run really well but um......they're butt ugly boats.

Getting one designed that works, is easy to build, and isn't hideous is a tall order though.

yes andy at cmdi is not really building boats and his prices are rediculous but his stuff runs like a flaming cheetah on crack. He still is doing props!!! I should get him to make a 6 cell rigger kit? my Q rigger is pretty insane.

Some great feedback so far guys. Here is what I personally had on a mental list of "To Do's", and some things already in the works:

1) Gas Thunder boat design started- NOW HAVE A FIBERGLASS THUNDERBOAT BASED ON THE LAUGHTERBACH PICKLE FOR HULL http://woodrcboatkits.com/index.php/fiberglass-hulls/ml-fcm-thunderboat.html

2) Glenn Quarles has sent the Texan .12 size rigger out, should be here soon. I am kitting it.- Now have the RSX310 P rigger, and the RSX240 and RSX380 N and Q Rigger designs are done. http://woodrcboatkits.com/index.php/scale-kits/outrigger-hydro-kits.html

3) Lots of 1/8th scale kits have been started, and I would love to finish them up soon. Some of them are the "Extreme Series" kits. Many new designs!

4)The 32" Nitro Wild thing has been released, and John will be building the 36" FE prototype Wild Thing over the holidays and testing. I am also finalizing the 32" FE version, and will be making a cowling plug/ mold. a 32" Nitro and FE version, 34" FE, 36" FE, and 50" gas are now available! http://woodrcboatkits.com/index.php/scale-kits/wild-thing-kit.html

5) Make changes to the 36.5" and 39.5" FE and nitro O/B Tunnels. (the prototype FE 39.5" is the fasted tunnel in IMPBA @ 78.42mph combined, 79.5mph fast pass, but needs some sponson mods to turn better) Sold off the tunnel lineup to Paul at PTI Racing, but have recently finished designing the THX-305 P Limited tunnel, to be tested soon.

6) A 38" sport 40 version of the GSX480 gas sport hydroplane if the testing turns out as well as we hope on the gas version...testing on that is hopefully this weekend. The GSX310 and GSX380 Nitro and FE kits have been available for a while now!

7) YES, I plan on doing a P-limited, full P and Q rigger this year. That is one thing that is very high on the list. Brian, I would love to discuss things with you. Designs finished! see above

8) A smaller mono around 27" would be good...however John taught me a lot on mono design, and it will be a challenge to run properly due to length Not pursuing at this time.

9)1/10th scale hydroplane trailer...a smaller version of the just released 1/8th scale version! Both scale sizes available, gas scale in the near future too!

10) 46" Gas O/B tunnel...Competition is looming, so its time to go for broke! What could be better than taking the winning est gas tunnel of all time, and make it faster. Sold off the gas tunnel lineup, see above

11) I have some plans for a 36" CAT that I have wanted to use as a base plan for years now..maybe that happens soon. Working on a 40" XCAT now!

12) An Airboat Maybe

13) A ski vee type hull Maybe

14) A fun retrieval boat I want to do this soon

15) A kids lineup of kits...simple, beginner kits Some of the new kits address this.

I am also going to pursue a dealership of Speedmaster hardware, and I am looking for someone to make turn fins exclusively for me and the GP series kits. I see a real need for that. I think some hardware packages would be a good thing. Macomb is starting to supply me fins for a lot of my kits, this is in the works!

Sorry, no Canard at this time. I am not that advanced of a designer, and those require major skills!

At the moment I'm scratch building an 1/8 scale Bluebird K7. It was something I started years ago & have decided to get it finished. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...45-K7-Bluebird

But it got me thinking that maybe a few of the water speed record boats might be an option for a kit. Especially the current record holder, the Spirit of Australia.
But also some of the older ones like any of the Bluebirds, Or the Crusader, Hustler , Quicksilver, American Challenger, etc. Here's some pics of a few of them, but there are many WWSR boats over the years that may be of interest to a lot of people.
I'm going to build the Spirit of Australia one day, for sure. And I just love the look of the Crusader.

I still like the Keps better. It's smaller and leaner and faster looking and you can do 3s or 2s. I have mostly 3s and would like to use them.

I guess it's hard to beat the JAE Mini Sprint as it additionally comes with hardware. The RSX240 would come with hardware, not that it looks like? I really like a full complete kit, as if anything is missing but the electronics trying to source out become a project in itself. I like RTR or ARTR if possible.

I'm pretty sure that the RSX240 has room for a 3S battery. I'll probably build both at some point. They're a number of people out there that would be happy to build a boat for you. Brad Nichols built a Kep's 4SL for me and it came out great. He's now building a RSX310 for me. I like doing the metal work, but I'm not a fan of doing the wood.

Yes I agree. There just there are not a huge amount of rigger RTR or ARTR kits around 3s. The JAE seems to be the only one that is easy to build and comes with all the major components. Wish there were more options in this size and price range.

I guess there isn't much in the way of 3S riggers is because I don't think there is a class for racing them. I'm not sure though. I'm not all that familiar with all the classes in both associations. I'm just a newbie, but would love to get into racing. Kind of isolated here in Montana.

Yes, there is not much that I'm aware of for 3s either in the U.S. unless it's a club. Regardless, I still like 3s as it's not too big and not too small and can be plenty fast if desired. Batteries, motors, ESC's are not crazy expensive either. They are easy to transport and work on, I just love them and anything that is 3s for all the reasons I mentioned. I am always scouring the web for something unique and 3s and fast. It can be wood, or plastic or fiberglass. I find one that is neat but it's just a hull.

If someone in the states would make this into a kit, RTR or ARTR it would be sweet. It seems all the neat designs and clubs are in Europe and specifically in Germany that I keep finding.

That little Russian rigger is neat. Reminds me of the H and M mini. Do you think you could get a 3S battery in there. It looks pretty small.
