Does anybody here use a proboat retrieval duck?

I was just checking out the insane boats site, most o those guys have an eyelet or a ow boom on their tow rigs ( primarily AQ Hammers ). they have a fishing pole hooked to the eyelet\boom via snap swivel. they run the boat out and do an arc aroud the stranded boat & back to shore. then they reel in the stranded boat.

Yes, I do. I have a floating snare made out of pvc wrapped in pool noodle similar to a ski rope handle attached to a fishing line. I run it out piggy backed on my Villain around the dead boat, pull it off the back and reel in. Works every time. If the dead boat is fairly close to shore, usually less than 30 feet or so, I just sideways cast the snare out over the dead boat.

Or I use a fishing pole or a blow up raft when the water gets to cold.

Only problem ,can't get into one of those anymore, to many back surgery's. I'm building a Atlantic Tug (Aqua craft)
? Will the stock ESC and motor work? , can't see changing until one goes.

IMO the retrieval boat should be the most reliable one! I like the good old armstrong powered canoe. Only thing to go up in smoke is the paddler....

You may want to consider that when it does go, you will now have 2 boats to retrieve, been there.(but not with the tug)

i made a giant "H" of PVC conformed to my Atlantic Tug (agua craft) with pipe insulation, most awesome.
depending on the craft I am retrieving i can make it any size up front.

Don't waste your money on the duck. I had one, it is slow as can be, terrible if even remotely choppy, can barely get out of it's own way even without towing a boat.

You can achieve the same thing by making your own towable hook buoy rather than buying a duck. Make your hook buoy from a piece of pool noodle with wire tow hooks that run thru the center of the noodle. Attach the buoy with a length of good fishing line with snap swivels on it. You may have to attach a threaded eyelet or tow boom to the back of your tow boat, so you don't snag up in the prop. The duck uses a steerable jet pump but its small....

I was thinking about getting one but thought it was kinda pricey. Does anybody here use one to recover a flipped or broken boat?
