Can't get MHZ drives to fit prop shafts, what do i need?

I bought MHZ 1/4" prop shaft sets and 3/16 flex drives from MHZ. The flexes weren't even close to fitting. MHZ told me to sand them. After sanding them enough to fit in the prop shaft and collet, it weakened the flex and it shredded at the collet. I can't find 3/16 flexes on FE sites that are flexes only without welded prop shafts. Anyone point me in the right direction?

Keith I can get them somewhat locally or I think I saw them on tough racing? In know they have the 1/4". Come to think of it, I thought OSE had just flexs... someone easy does because I got them for my HPR....

Come to think of it.. how long do they need to be? Ive got a few pieces of scrap here, left and right lay.

"Sand" is maybe a bit over the top, but filing them down with a metal file using a hand drill works 100%. All my 5mm flexes are filed down to suit 3/16 prop shafts. Will find you a picture and post :)

Nata, I had talked to him about it via phone a while back and that's what I thought too, no biggie, but he said for some reason he had to take a considerable amount off to get them to fit.

To avoid making myself look like a meathead, MHZ seems to have two different suppliers for drives. One set has a gold-ish color tone, the others look silver/pewter color. The gold tone fit directly into the collet and prop shaft. The others had to be filed/sanded a lot although both were 3/16. When I filed them down to fit the outer winds of the flexes were weak and the flex failed and coiled. I just want flexes that will fit right in the prop shaft

                Here's basically what happened

The problem was at the collet. I had to file both ends of the flex to fit the prop shaft and into the collet. Totally shredded the flex because of the weakened outer diameter.

That looks like a problem of too much unsupported flex although its hard to see where the stuffing tube actually ends.

I think its the quality of the flex cable also. I have done the same thing with "china made" 3/16 cable but since using 5mm Gundart from Germany, 0 problems. Its just so much stronger than the "normal" 3/16. I have spun my 57's cut to 52mm at 43k RPM no issue, also spun 57's in mid 30k with no issue. The ones in the picture are the 5mm filed down to fit 3/16 shafts. I used the same both on my HPR115 and "EX" MHZ 138
