LiPo or not

Getting down to getting my first FE feet wet. All I need is batteries and a charger. The hull is a A Titan 29 with Feigao 540-9XL, turbo tran and Hydra 120 ESC. I will be running it sport for a while until I get my required flips and air time completed. I want longer run times. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions and advise.

Hey,
in my limited knowledge in what ive learnt lipo is a good weight saver and has some good power advantages! you can reduce costs involved by connecting 2 3 cell packs in parrallel or even in series.
Look around there is cheap options until you figure out what works best and then spend the cash on the good ones!
I think maybe 2 x 3s 2500 25-30c in parrallel will work and will get it going. Hope it helps

Lipo all the way. Don't waste your money on the round cells anymore. Minimum 25C rating and at least 4000+ mah

The only reason I can see for round cells anymore is if you need the weight (or have them at hand anyway) and even then I don't think they can deliver the amps like a good lipo pack.
edit: or racing in classes that require them I guess

Ghost I am starting new so like you said might as well go with the latest and best. Price is not a big issue with toys for old guys.

Even the best round cells are only good for about 40 amps...they will not last long under 80+ amp conditions....which is common anymore with decent BL set ups.

I used to run the exact same motor in a titan 29', it would run fine on 12 4200 intellects but as soon as I dropped a pair of 7.4 5000 Mah Poly RC lipos it hauled ass . Unlike my smaller OM 25 it can also handle really rough water even with the extra power which makes it a really enjoyable sport boat to take for a run when the wind picks up.

Direct drive with an carbon X442 propeller.

Lipos are far better. There are two options:

1) Use 2 batteries 11.1V(3s2p) in parallel with 2200 mah and upwards as much as you can afford. This is the cheapest solution, you will have good speed and long run times. You can find many of these in e-bay.

2) Use 2, 7.4V in series (4s1p). Speed will be higher and as you go up with mah run times will be longer.

I used both and for charger the Imax B5 from ebay, no problems so far. For the 7.4V you can try also RCLIPOS (http://www.rclipos.com/) the Elite lipos.
