I have been out of boats for a couple of years and i see things have changed a bit since then. Not that i knew a lot back then but i had a bit of a idea.
I feel very lucky with the caliber of guys that have chimed in with advice, it is greatly appreciated.
Really happy i posted this thread i think the leopards are going to be much better than my origonal thoughts.

No, I've only done the CF Shocker. I have done a number of FG Fantasms and Cheetahs though, and I assume they are similar layup. It will still benefit from further reinforcement, especially the hatch.Originally posted by ozzie-crawl View PostThanks keith i know you build a lot of twins. Have you seen the fibreglass version of the shocker and how it is layed up ??
Shawn i have read your thread about 6 times lol. Very informative thank you.
Shawn is definitely a good resource in regards to the Shocker, as he did a lot of testing with his. I think he is currently testing how long it can hold it's breath under water though...

I have gotten hold of some CF cloth and have done half a dozen or so hulls so should be good to go with that.
Sorry to hear that about shawns boat. I lost my first FE in a pond about 8 years ago. I spent 2 weeks in a blow up boat and a 30 foot pole searching the bottom of the pond. I did manage to rescue it from the merky depths and only lost the servo and reciever.
I am glad it was a out of the way place as i am 6 foot 2 and fairly large build.would have been a sight seeing me paddle around in a little boat lol.

Well i gotta say i used to buy a bit here and there from steve a few years ago and found his service 2nd to none.
I have done a couple of orders in the last few weeks the last one was yesterday and not really thinking i picked the least expensive shipping to Australia.
It was a $250 order and shipping was $30. Today i get a email from steve concerned about posting motors etc in a padded envlope with no insurance.
So i emailed back to see if i could pay the extra for express with insurance and with in 5 min i had a reply and a paypal request for the extra money, then a few minutes after that another email saying it will post out today express post.
May have been a few years but steves service is still 2nd to know one.

Thanks mark i have organised some carbon fibre cloth and will add a layer in.Originally posted by MarkF View PostI had to reinforce my shocker with some carbon kevlar and then put expanding foam in the nose of the boat. This helped a lot so when I did blow over the splits in the sides were minimal and easier to fix on site.
Mark
By the way congrats on your record runs. As your speed is taken as a average over a certain distance is there any thing that shows the actaul top speed reached threw the run ??

Ok thought it may have been a little higher but makes sense.Originally posted by MarkF View PostI think on average it's only 2 to 3 mph if you get a good run up. A poor line and run up can be a much larger gap.
Mark
Got notification the hull is on its way and so are the motors etc from ose. Cant wait to get my grubby little hands on it.
Now for my stupid question. Looking on another site i noticed couplers from motor to flex shaft in reverse rotation
Now i know i need clock wise and anti clock wise flexes but do you need a clock wise coupler. Can see that a prop spinning clock wise the coupler would be in affect trying to undo it self but i have never seen anyone mention a coupler for it in any threads.
Is it needed or will 2 normal rotation couplers be fine ???

The 4s limit is at Boondall.
At Lakeside Raceway, where we race, the limit is 12s (I think.)See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!
