Use them at your own risk, I disagree with you. However you may have good luck with them, just as many people have good luck with the Flysky Brand radio system. I asked a similar question months ago not because I think the name "Marine" receiver is a marketing trick, but simply I wanted something less expensive for my little pond-sized boat, the feedback I got convinced me that it wasn't a good idea---at least these particular ones. Why should I be the FIRST ONE to find out the hard way?!
This is an often debated issue:some insist on the most expensive systems, some will swear by the inexpensive FLYSKY brand, and for that matter, I do know people even raced with the latter w/o any problem. Bottom line is you need to use whatever had worked for you. Therefore, if you had used those"Orange Box" from HK, and worked for you, then I understand your confidence in them.
But for the record I don't think the Spektrum marine receivers are gimmicks, they are not cheap, but it is a name to trust.

If you'd like to find out if the Spektrum "Marine Receivers" is a gimmick... Put an SR300 or SR310 surface receiver in your boat, point it out into the lake, and pull the trigger... When you lose signal. Note th e location, or mark the location with your GPS... (You can probably get there with a tape measure!)...

Then repeat with your MR200 or MR3000....

Or, you could just take My, and Spektrum's word for it... If you REALLY think that they'd go to all the expense of adding an additional antenna and changing the form and adding the potting/conformal coating and upgrading ALL of their Surface TX's in order to sell receivers to the TINY segment of the R/C hobby that runs boats... well... not much we can do to help you here...

Not to mention the fact that virtually every Spektrum/Horizon product that I have had a problem with was repaired or replaced with no hassle and at no cost, in short time, even without a receipt........

i use mr3000 in all 5 of my boats and have a few back ups and have never had a problem with any of them...highly recomended

Do you know if it's possible to re-flash the DX3r, so that it will work with the MR recievers? I have a DX3r as a back up radio, I normally use a Futaba 3PKS. But I just got a pair of AS26- 150 BL esc's, and for some reason I can't program both esc's to work with my 603FS reciever. However I can program them with my DX3r reciever, if there are any Futaba guys here that would like to chime in...please do.
