36" tunnel motor prop suggestions

Finally have some money saved up and would like some advise on set up. So far I have hull and hardware it's already set up as inboard so my motor choice is a little more open. I have picked a swordfish 220 pro+ with data logging ($150 AU ) for esc and have 3s and 5s batteries 45c so hoping to use them in this boat. Was looking at 4082 leopard /TP 1600 2Y (on 5s) considered neu but the price is high i know they worth it though would 1521 or 1527 work? Drive line is 3/16 not sure if you need anymore info. No prop choice yet as want to sort out motor size/kv first. This will be sporting boat and looking for reliablility and hoping to get up to 80km/h. Please let me know your thoughts.

Sounds like your on the right track. Any motor in the size you've mentioned would be a good choice as long as its able to handle the wattage needed.Your choice of kv would allow a pretty good selection of props. I run 1600kv on 6s just as an idea so you should easily go 447 or in that range.The one thing to keep in mind with a tunnel is room. Tunnels are very narrow in the radio box so keep a close eye on the physical size of the parts you pick so you wont run into trouble with the install.

It might be hard to run 6s as I would need to run the 3a in series if I want to use my current batteries and not sure if I could fit 2 batteries in it. If I went 5s could I go up to 1700kv/1750? Which neu motor I don't follow there sizing and I know they are better quality do they have better torque for same size as leopard?

Yes on 5s you can go up to 1700-1800kv. Just remeber the higher you go the narrow your window of tuning. Less prop choices and less room for error.Truthfully I.m not sure you need to bother with a neu on this boat,Better to just go with the leopard or tp and save the pennies for your next build. You can always get one for your next project.

Yeah I wasn't sure if it was worth it for a sport boat not racing or going for saw records. Spend the difference on some extra props and not sure what else. What prop should I start with? OSE only has 1600 and 1800 in there 4082 range and TP is 1650 no 1700/1750

Always good to start with a small size just to make sure everything is working right. Start with something in the 40-42mm range. Take it out for some short runs to check the trim of the hull, temps etc. make sure your getting good water flow through your lines and stuff then you can jump up to say a 45mm. A cple short high speed passes and check temps. If all is good then you can experiment with others.Before you buy a motor shop around on the web and see if there is something in the kv range you want but capable of higher wattages. If you over prop your motor and cook it it can also take out your esc. Always good to have a little extra headroom on the wattage rating.

Leopards are around the 2400 and TP Power motors are 3200 watts. May have to move up to 4092 to get 1730kv just got reply from Steven that's the only one in the 1700 range.

Ya that would be plenty of power for sure just keep in mind the amount of room you have. if you can fit that one in you'll have a very fast boat.

Just bringing up old subject got everything i need now except a motor and just wanting to know if i should go to a 4092 or a 4082 will either be leopard or tp power 5s and 1800kv. ready to order just hoping for a bit more input before I order. Speedy is 220 SF pro plus and a 46x1.4 3 blade prop (not sure if i will use yet or just go 2 blade)

I am running a 4082 1600 on 6s (plan on 8s for fun/speed runs) in a pursuit hull and it runs extremely well. I think the 4082 will be plenty good as long as you get the kv right for the 5s.

5s and 1800kv is 33000 unloaded I'm ok with that not going to be doing long runs or going for big props and ridiculous speeds.
